Man I have some great memories of the various Oddworld games from long long ago. Figuring out puzzles, exploration... The lore and the world and the art was always soooo good.

There's lots of genders, but if we go with gender "violent vehicle" or vv, then yes, I would agree. Vigilante 8 was the best of all the vv gendered games.

I hit the respawning enemies bug everyone's talking about. It's brutal. I uninstalled. I might check back next year when they've patched it out, but this is 100% game breaking, and no idea how it made it past testing.
I spent a good 1.5 - 2 hrs clearing out an entire area of enemies VERY carefully, I don't enjoy open combat, so I like to take it slow, read the enemy movements, pick them off one by one. I really ENJOY doing that.
Cleared the whole area.
Went into a bunker, oof. It was tough, like 3-5 ferals on top of me all at once. I managed it, but JUST barely. And got infected. Used a ton of ammo and almost all my crafting for health and available health packs. Went right back outside to find some supplies to craft more healing and get more ammo.
THE ENTIRE FUCKING AREA WAS RESPAWNED ... AND THEY WERE RIGHT IN MY FACE ............... WTF OMG .....
soooooo .... I guess the moral of the story was that killing any enemy in any zone is a waste of time? Resources don't respawn. It was a complete waste of those 2 hrs killing enemies. But also any ammo or health packs, etc.
It would have been much better off to just sprint past all the enemies going "hey hold on there we don't want any strife" like a bunch of dumb morons and go straight into the bunker.
That makes zero sense.

yeah I hate that it has denuvo also (some complaints in the steam page discussions as well) but I still want to play these games!!!
anyway ... I have played Atomfall a little more (roughly 4 hrs now) and here's my first thoughts:
I'm near finishing the entire first area, no idea how big or small this compares to the other areas.
Audio Visual: game looks good, not great. Engine/models/textures definitely showing their age. Not bad at all, just after getting used to other more modern games, it shows. But still it looks good and runs really high fps, so all in all no complaints. Audio is done well, sound queues are good, etc.
Story: confusing. The whole "atomic fallout in england" is a REALLY cool settings and I'm curious to find out more, but ... it's weird that I have really no reason to. There's only my curiosity. Nobody here knows me, and I'm not involved in anything, I'm a nameless faceless person with amnesia. There's absolutely no reason whatsoever I couldn't just rebuild one of these nice english stone houses and live there indefinitely, eating off the land etc... Why not? Why risk my life getting killed by mutants in some fallout shelter I don't give two shits about? Just odd that there's no real REASON to do anything. I'm sure more will be revealed, but that's just strange I thought.
Combat: so far, incredibly easy. I'm on the recommended second highest difficulty, I suppose I should up it to max. But the enemy ai is just absolutely brain dead. I died a few times in very first enemy camp, just figuring things out, but after that it's been very simple. It's very easy to pick off enemies one by one if they are in groups, and if enemies are solo I think the game must be broken, because all you do is kick(stun)+single axe hit=death. There's absolutely no challenge whatsoever to any encounter solo. Kick + axe, the end. That's for the human enemies. The mutants are harder since they're really spongy with a ton of health, but mostly just walking backwards with a shotgun plus kicking seems to do the trick really well. I'm sure I'll run into harder enemies that will require strategy later on, but combat seems weird so far.
Crafting/survival/inventory/bartering: EXTREMELY EXTREMELY EXTREMELY limited. This has got to be one of the smallest inventories in any game I've ever seen. You can only hold 4 weapons, so for me that's a melee (required) + shotgun + .22 rifle + sniper. Then I have a handful of medkits, grenades, and food, and THATS IT. I have gone around this first area and have left thousands upon thousands of items laying everywhere. I can't pick anything up. Ammo is constantly maxed out, crafting materials are constantly maxed out, inventory is constantly full. I'm very confused about this. I know this is just the first area, but the crafting stuff is so confusing. There's crafting materials EVERYWHERE but you can't pick any of it up or use any of it because your character only knows like 3 recipes and you don't need any of them / can't even craft them because of no space.
The bartering is even more confusing. I really can only carry things I NEED. 4 weapons and a handful of medkits and grenades and stuff like that. But there's no money in this game, everything must be bartered for with items. But I have NO items I can spare .... am I meant to constantly run back and forth between every dead enemy and one by one by one bring every item to the trader, dump it all at her feet, then empty my inventory, pick all that up, trade it, then pick back up all my inventory? Absolutely zero chance I'm doing anything like that. Sooooo....... I just don't trade. Again: very confusing. I came upon a vendor in a cave, and he had a recipe for a crafting item I didn't know, but I had nothing to trade with him, so I just left him alone. I can't give him any of my four weapons, and I need my medkits and grenades. I have nothing else. I suppose I COULD trade away all my weapons and then one by one go around the world and get them all back off of dead enemies, but then I'd to remember exactly where a dead guy with a sniper rifle and a dead guy with a shotgun, etc.... all were located. No chance I'm doing that. I could also trade away all my crafting materials or ammo (since that stuff's everywhere) but I don't know if the next encounter I get in will be all enemies with guns (so requires lots of rifle bullets) or some new enemy I haven't seem before so I'll need to craft lots of bandages, etc... I just don't like running around with no ammo or crafting mats etc...
Overall I'm still having fun, and will keep playing, but man alive these devs made some REALLY confusing choices on how this game is built.

I'm playing Atomfall right now and having a great time. Still in the first area so not really at a point to give an overall review of it, but so far so good. I REALLY hope I don't run into the respawning bug though, because that'll kill my enjoyment, but so far I haven't.

Playing it now and absolutely loving it! I don't care about achievements so I don't even know if they're working or not, but I did have an issue on the Deck where there is some sort of (what I assume is a tutorial video?) but it's not rendering at all and instead just shows color bars. So I don't know what the game is trying to tell me, but it's still so simple, I don't think it matters.
I REALLY hope the dev makes a killing off of sales and makes a sequel that's a full length game. I'd play the hell out of it.
