For those trying to install the EA App on Lutris atm - download the EA App through the Lutris website as usual. Also download the EA app from the EA website (.exe installer). The lutris install will fail only setting up the wine prefixes/folders. Click on the EA APP under Games - Go down to the wine button down the bottom, click on 'Run EXE inside Wine prefix' select the EA app exe file. Done.
Had a friend switch to linux on the weekend and wanted to install some of their origin games - wow what a mess origin/ea app are - looking through search histories for a solution seems to keep breaking.

the game has a massive cpu related bottleneck - hogs the DRAM - mine has gone over 25gb on some instances. using FSR does pretty much nothing, so the only thing left to do is crank up the visual settings, to as high as you can go, so atleast you get high GPU utilisation. It is of course dependent on location but i'm getting @ 1440p epic settings, ray tracing on (motion blur off - FSR off) usually between 60-85fps - averaging probably around 70-75fps (5950x / 6900xt / 64gb ram / kubuntu 23.04 mesa 23.2 proton experimental). settings options often requires restart, don't tweak them in game and expect them to take effect or not introduce artefacting - because that would make too much sense :dizzy:

oh no, fingers crossed Star Wars Battlefront 2 survives this transition - it runs perfectly in proton :/
