Quoting: ToddLWhat's wrong with Magician Lord? That games is pretty fun till the end :grin:I didn't enjoy it personally, and I really couldn't find anything I liked about it. I'm not 100% sure if we're talking about different games here!

That's a pretty good selection, other than the utterly odious Magician Lord!
That said, it's disappointing that they haven't bothered with Linux support here, even though the developer they've gone with, Code Mystics [External Link], is very heavily associated with emulated re-releases. Emulation on Linux is so good, that I can't see any excuse for such a specialised dev and set of re-releases to have skipped it.

Speaking about more retro games like this being revived and released on GOG their team said "With classics so well known and beloved, we're surely kicking off 2024 on a high note – making it undeniably clear that we’re not slowing down on a mission of games preservation. This is not GOG’s final word on the subject, that’s for sure – we have much more up our sleeves, and we’re looking forward to expanding our relationship with SNK, as well as their catalogue of timeless gems on our platform. So, better get ready, because more is yet to come".Now THIS is particularly interesting! I'm looking forward to seeing what they have in store here.

Quoting: TuxeeWhy a 1920x1200 120Hz display?Because bignums. And clearly it doesn't help the battery-life, as predicted in previous threads on this device.

Quoting: BelaptirI don't think that's the intent behind this.Like I said, sarcasm.
Quoting: BelaptirThis causes the inconvenience of screwing Linux users, but do you really think they care a single bit about us?Definitely not, and never did, haha! They've never made the sort of games I would ever want to buy. I don't think they've made anything even vaguely interesting to me since the era of the Commodore 64, and even then I've literally never bought an EA game.

Quoting: Purple Library GuyPokemon holding company?!:grin::grin:HAHAHAHA! Alas, it's not that interesting - it's just that The Pokemon Company is co-owned by Nintendo, Game Freak, and Creatures Inc.. I do like your more fanciful depiction, however, especially considering how they treat both franchise and fandom - let's just go with that.
I'm imagining these people at the company busily stuffing Pokemon into balls.

Quoting: GuestLiam, stop reporting on these things. You do such a good job that I'm certain Nintendo checks here to find their next target. :-)Make no mistake, they do. They also claim not to keep tabs on fan discourse surrounding their games, but they're known to do that too. Ex-staff from their co-owned Pokemon holding company [External Link] admit to this.

Quoting: Purple Library GuyThis is very much reminding me of that Cory Doctorow story Unauthorized Bread [External Link], which of course isn't in any way a satirical call to action on all this stuff. Thanks SO much for linking to this one, PLG. I just read the whole thing, gripped until the end, whilst eating some leftovers for breakfast that, thankfully, I was allowed by my non-smart appliances to keep and consume however I wished. Excellent read, and disquietingly close to the present-day - well worth the time.
