The only one in here that's really of interest to me is Rain World, so I'll just wait for that to show up on its own in a future sale.

Quoting: EikeWho would be going to make games for Steam Deck because of The Next Switch? I can't see it...There's never been a situation quite like this before, to be fair - usually it's been that competitors had to make their own custom handheld, and now they don't. For example, we've already seen Sony and Microsoft paying some attention to Steam Deck compatibility. I can imagine that we'll see more of that, at least!

As with anything, the best games in the handheld space always came about when competition was fierce (when naming favourite handheld titles, I always notice that they're usually concentrated around either the Game Boy or DS eras - both times when there was serious competition), and even with the Steam Deck being a general-purpose PC underneath that's still going to apply here going forward, so I'm looking forward to seeing what happens next. We should get some good games out of it!

Quoting: slaapliedjeAnd instead they did a handheld, because the only real competition in that space was either way too expensive for most people, or the Switch.Putting on my portables-enthusiast hat for a moment, we really haven't had proper competition in the handheld market in decades, and it hasn't helped that Nintendo has opted not to directly compete with other manufacturers since around the mid-2000s (something the Steam Deck is probably now going to force them to do). With rumours that the Nintendo Switch's successor will be out next year [External Link] (which sounds like a kick in the teeth for the new customers in countries where the Switch has only just been released [External Link]), we've got interesting times ahead.

Great to see more of this sort of thing! I may be an emulation enthusiast, but if companies are willing to provide affordable official re-releases (collections or singles, I don't mind) that can be played hassle-free on my platform of choice, I'm there.
I like the bezel artwork seen in the trailer, too. Traditionally I've never used these when available, preferring to opt for a plain black or grey background (depending on what any given release offers), but picking up Arcade Game Series: Ms. Pac-Man [External Link] in a sale recently made me a convert.
It's particularly nice to see this sort of treatment being given to a company like Toaplan, since you can generally guarantee that the more famous names will issue collections every now and then, but not so much the somewhat-forgotten developers like this one. Now they just need to get Snow Bros., or its recent remake, Snow Bros. Special, onto Steam, too - Toaplan made more than just shooters, after all!

Anyway, this looks gorgeous, and it's nice to see voxel-based stuff going back beyond "the Minecraft look" again, too (it felt like more was being done with that style before Minecraft came along, to me).
I wonder how it feels to play this (or any other source-port), for those of us who started off with the official Unity ports by Nerve Software?

Spice up your next play-through of Doom IINext?! I only just started playing through it for the first time ever recently!

As I said over on the forum, I love love love how they've made these reminiscent of the Family BASIC keyboard [External Link] and the Nintendo Advanced Video System prototype [External Link].
I'm particularly fond of the Famicom design, myself, partly because the Family BASIC keyboard's accompanying software has a slight connection to the creation of Bomberman as we know the series today - though I love the NES design, too, because I always liked that very-80s boxy design. That said, though I'm all about the compact layout (keyboards with numpads are far too big for me to easily use - I prefer laptop-style layouts, even when working at a desk), I think I'd want a plainer keyboard that I could customise with keycaps [External Link] like this [External Link].

Quoting: scaineI'd probably end up getting at least one of those huge buttons too, to act as a giant "mute", as I do a lot of video conferencing while working from home. You get a set of those included with each keyboard, and it sounds like you can buy extras if needed.
Quoting: scaineHopefully they land for the UK soon.They're both up for pre-order on Amazon UK now;

Quoting: ArehandoroBeing wireless puts me off a little, but the design is a hug straight into nostalgia.
Quoting: EikeMaybe it should have both (like some headphones): A cable, but detachable. It offers all three options in one unit - USB, wireless, and Bluetooth.
A cable for the nostalgia... and then wireless for actually using it on the couch.

Interesting times! And even if this is only a brief jump due to the sale, it's still a good sign of where things are going.
Quoting: TuxeeMust have been me. Got the survey twice last month. First on the deck, the second time on the desktop.I got the survey three times yesterday, so there's three separate Linux boxes for this month's survey.

Quoting: AlthaxI’m a new deck owner and used this to install bnet and epic game store on my deck. It worked like a charm!Hey! Welcome to GOL!
Quoting: AlthaxI’m curious though, I’ve seen different methods of installation referred to as heroic or Lutrus (I think), is this one of those or something separate?Heroic and Lutris are separate from NonSteamLaunchers - they're full-featured programs in their own right, though you can also use them to achieve the same goals.
