Quoting: hardpenguinSo like EasyRPG [External Link] but for MV and MZ editions!I remember thinking the other day: "Man I wish there was EasyRPG for newer versions of RPGMaker". Then I come across this article. Would be nice if this results in luxtorpeda entries.

Quoting: Augustus-OctavianAww I wish there was more official support from companies than from random distros that may or may not exist tomorrow.I've found CachyOS to be to Arch what Nobara Project is to Fedora. Where I've seen people say there's a threat of it not being maintained, and yet it's one of the consistently best experiences I've had with linux in my time distrohopping for the past 2 years deck has been out.

To be clear, I think having a mod manager is a good thing, things SHOULD work that way instead of manually replacing files in my opinion, though that leads to lost skills obviously, plus I have strong disdain for matchmaking based multiplayer cause it removes the social "town square" element of servers that specialized in specific kinds of gameplay with specific regulars of people you could meet and become fast friends with.
When a skill is no longer needed, it atrophies in people.

Quoting: CatKillerI blame the crypto mining boom making prebuilt PCs a cheaper way to upgrade than building your own stuff for a while, the lack of dedicated server options for a lot of games meaning that you don't need to learn how to port forward anymore, how much is automated in Windows (often against your will), and the lack of manual modding support for games (most stuff is automated through things like R2Modman, Steam Workshop, Mod Organizer 2, and Mod.io nowadays) and search bars like the one in the taskbar on windows and even stuff on Linux like Rofi/Pop Launcher meaning you don't have to really understand filesystems [External Link] as much as you used to, either.Quoting: BrokattRemember that most PC gamers are not that tech savvy. This still seems weird to me. I can accept that it's true, but it's weird.

This could also be copium I'm huffing however and valve isn't gonna release SteamOS 3 except to hardware devs, as in people who make handheld PCs that aren't Steam Deck.
Would roll my eyes if the real reason is that they were trying to update SteamOS 3 enough that the one that releases is 4, cause, you know, valve and that number 3.

Quoting: GuestWait. Why? Is valve...? Why are they doing this? Is something with nvidia in the works or is it steamos?I've been strongly suspecting the reason SteamOS 3 has not seen a general release is that you can't exactly have a consistent and reliable gamescope session on Nvidia cards yet so they're playing it safe and trying to get this kind of stuff sorted first so that 3 doesn't come out, have dealbreaker problems, and have a bunch of new people who've never used linux before go "SEE? I KNEW LINUX WAS BAD!"

initial D3D12 support for OpenVRI'm happy to see literally any movement forward at all on VR for Linux. That's the final hurdle keeping me dual booting windows.

Linux Mint 22 moves to Pipewire, will ship newer kernels after release

Probably gonna wait for Wilma to come out and switch. I'm used to being on arch but I really wanna go for a "I don't have to worry about stuff, it'll just work fine" distro, so I've been branching out, and 1.7.1 on distrobox lets me do that without losing a single important thing I use from the AUR or dependencies I need to build certain things from source.
The only thing I'd want from mint after this is for it to get a KDE Plasma spin and to just keep being an awesome beginner friendly distro in general.

You mean I don't have to do WINE_CPU_TOPOLOGY=8:0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7 %command% with Prototype anymore? Awesome! That means this game is literally easier to run on linux than it is on windows now, since you need to mod this functionality in to get it playable there.

Quoting: jareddmccluskeyHey all! We'll make the subtitles optional for Youtube next time :) Yes, it's quite common on TikTok/YT Shorts to have the captions hardcoded since people scroll through videos on their phone without always having audio available.Any plans for a steam release? Not that I have a problem with itch.io, it is pretty great. It's just that it's only easy on linux to set up an itch.io game if you're using lutris and basically no other launcher (for now, I heard that the Heroic Games Launcher dudes are working on it) since the official itch.io flatpak hasn't had an update in a long time and having it on steam would basically just be a 2 to 3 click install for most people.
Thank you for covering this Liam! Happy to answer any questions.
