@Linas
FWIW GOG don't support Linux either. It's to their detriment sadly - all they need to do is announce official partnership with Heroic Launcher and provide better API access and they'd win many more buyers at minimal cost. Put up a sign on each store page "Linux has provisional support via Heroic Launcher but do not ask GOG for after sales support if you're playing on non-Windows devices."
I am sometimes tempted to redeem all those games on Epic. But then again, it's Epic.As long as I'm not spending a dime on the store I'm game to take the freebies. I may even buy Alan Wake 2 some day.

It's probably a hold over from before the A in the RPG emerged. Wasn't the game was going to have turn based combat before the designer played it one night with real time combat and discovered how much better it was?
So I ask the D1 fans here, do you know to any compatible mod which adds running (or fast walking)? And please don't say Belzebub or Tchernobog mods, because they alter the game way too much. I just want a vanilla+ experience, with running.Asking for running in D1 is like asking for unlimited select in StarCraft. But I agree it's quite jarring how you can't run, and it's what's kept me from returning to the game for all these years. Even when it was new I recall being slightly irked that your guy walks everywhere!

Those talking about htpc, I've been using my pc on a sofa in front of a TV for about 3 years now.. I use a keyboard/touchpad combo (logitech k400) and honestly never used my controller to navigate or launch games, and works great.. though you might have to run a usb extension cable so the receiver can actually pick it upI set my wife's PC up as an HTPC in 2016ish with a K400 as the main driver, and it's been great. A wireless Xbox controller lets her play all her games. It's tied our living room together ever since.

Valve ban advertising-based business models on Steam, no forced adverts like in mobile games

An alternate reality has Valve explicitly permitting paid ads inside video games, and ten years from now the worst of in-game advertising in mobile games will have fully invaded all PC games, with old games updated to include ads between levels or ads between zoning.
So goes Steam, so goes PC gaming trends. My cynical side says Tim Sweeney would play the contrarian and permit mobile game-style in-game ads on EGS, but I don't think he would really support that .

A couple more years and our Decks will be quite long in the tooth given that many AAA releases lately are sub-30fps on our handhelds. It still doesn't stop be from playing them, I find Rebirth totally playable and agree with the Verified status on that title. But those frame times Liam got in MHW are horrendous, just forget it, that's only a bad time.
Going forward the thing to remember about our Decks is they continue to play everything pre-2021 quite beautifully, and that was Valves goal from the beginning: grant us access to our library and backlogs in a handheld format. And it's been great!

What Valve would need to do to make a Steam Console a success

My ideas:
Restrict the console's store page to Verified games only, with a toggle in the Settings menu to unlock the rest. That would ensure the average player gets a solid experience right out of the gate.
Use a NUC form factor (8"x8"X4"), flip the mobo upside down and have a large 140mm fan exhaust downwards through vent holes, and make the top just solid metal or plastic to prevent spills. Usb on the front.
Ship with a controller with a wifi dongle, Bluetooth is too laggy.
What to do about anti-cheat titles? They're a huge, and expected draw. And non-Steam games? Expecting the masses to install Heroic Launcher and add games to steam, then deal with game art, then deal with controller configs is a very tall order.
Liam is right: without anti-cheat being solved, it's practically a no-go.

Valve now warns on Steam pages if an Early Access game hasn't been updated in a long time

Updates need to be made to the store page. Updating via discord or twitter are not acceptable sole options. Optionally, sure!
I'm still waiting on Minihealer to receive an update but it's been 20 months. I've held off buying for over a year now. Early Access is disappointing sometimes...
