Deponia Doomsday: initial thoughts and early review

Quoting: EikeThe one where Rufus forgot the password due to the noise was totally unfair and IMHO the worst puzzle I ever met in about 30 years of adventure gaming (including goats). The rest was fine with me.
I saw that as quite a clever break of the fourth wall really. Kind of similar to the "back of the package" thing in the original MGS.

I can't see this going well at all. A load of coked-up people in board rooms threw around some fantasies on how to make more money, most likely involving BS buzzwords like "convergence" and "synergy" or something.

Sounds a lot like the Xbone launch or Windows Phone in general. They'll either have to go back on it like with all the Xbone crap they tried to push, or just watch it be ignored and die a slow death like Windows Phone. I'm going to go with a huge backlash followed by going back on it through some generic corporate press release. The idiocy of these clowns knows no bounds, it takes skill to slowly destroy a monopoly business.

This looks a lot better than all the recent Harvest Moon games, hope it gets ported!

Quoting: GuestIndeed the original trilogy has illogical and very hard to solve puzzles, which is why I will never finish it and won't buy this sequel...
Some were hard, but I've played tougher P&C games, especially some of the older ones where there weren't things like hotspot indicators.

Quoting: Ilyais gamepad same as controller?
Yeah, it's normally called a "gamepad" in North America, but with the globalisation of language, the term is used on both sides of the Atlantic now.

Quoting: KallestofelesI seriously hope that it's not FNAF - basically that would bring in 0 bucks for Feral + it's a gimmic-game series which runs fine on wine.
It could have required very little work to port, meaning they could be compensated for their porting work fairly quickly.
True, good point.

In a way though, that kind of suggests it's not Feral since they tend to do way more complicated games. Something like FNAF could easily just be shipped with a wrapper.

What game would you most like to see on Linux this year?

My realistic desire is Banished.

My semi-realistic desire is the new Tales game and Tales of Symphonia remake.

My complely unrealistic desire is Fallout 4.

Quoting: BlobI'm pretty sure it was made with Visionaire Adventure Game Engine.
Yeah you're right, my bad. Can't remember what game I was playing that used Wintermute.

Whaaaaaaat??? How did I not know this was in development?!?! This is an instabuy for me, I love Deponia and coincidentally replaying the trilogy now so this is perfect timing. Really excited :D

Quoting: NatedawgI could be wrong, but weren't the Deponia games made in Godot? :)
It's Wintermute engine like Daedalic's other games. I don't think Godot was even around when the first game came out. Would be super cool if they switched to it though!

I'm now leaving out the old/jokey left in question about what type of drivers people are using on Intel, as there's only one type.
