Road Redemption Released For Linux, It's In Bad Shape

Kind of strange there is no announcement in the Steam product page news thingy. It's almost like they released this by mistake or something.

Quoting: lvlarkI'm always kinda surprised with how little Wine usage changes. I'd expect that with more and more games available natively, that number would go down. Maybe it just needs more time. Maybe it doesn't really matter to me though.
I do wonder how much of that wine percentage is down to Skyrim or Fallout 3 / New Vegas. I bet it would drop considerably if Bethesda released them natively.
I agree, Wine usage will most likely be on "essential" older games like that which have next to no chance of getting a port. I think it will be one of the slowest things to decrease.

I can't remember what other game forum that guy was moderating but remember him being really sarcastic and snarky to everyone. To be fair though, if I had to moderate forums for a living then I would also lose the will to live.

GOL GOTY Awards Coming Up, What Do You Want To See?

I'd like categories, but possibly stay away from genre since there's just so many these days and everyone will want their favourite game genre in there. Some possibilities:

Best game engine (ones with native development only)
Best new IP
Best Early Access game
Best open source game
Best indie game (kind of hard to define "indie" though)

Last year, every game ever released for Linux was included. I don't think there's any need for that this year since we have so many games now.

Falcon Northwest Is Another Company To Remove Their Steam Machine Offering For Now

Quoting: NyamiouIt's clear now, Valve have been too kind in thrusting the existing manufacturers, thinking that since they have an enormous interest in the success of Steam Machines and even in the success of alternatives to Windows they would look farther than the short future. These manufacturers are too dumb to save themselves, they prefer to drown their market in PC Master Race dumbsh*t and look at it diminish year after year because people are sick of it and prefer to go to consoles and even tablets than to deal with this. We need something new, I think Alienware get it, but it's not enough, think are not going to change by themselves, we need people to stand up and tell things that need to be told, and neither Alienware nor Valve are doing that right now.
Agree. They're all stuck in the past and have their head stuck in a world where having higher specs has more to do with a male inferiority complex than actually improving game performance to any considerable level. I'd say Alienware do get it, but to compete with consoles they're going to need a better price/performance ratio.

A lot of these companies seem to misunderstand the basic premise of a Steam Machine. It's not supposed to be something that costs upwards of £1000 with two graphics cards... With that kind of outlook I really don't think they would have done too well anyway.

Regardless, with the current offerings I don't see much that can compete with consoles in terms of price or performance. They're mostly either underpowered or overpriced. The Zotac one is the closest thing I've seen to what I think a Steam Machine should be, but it's way too expensive. While the Syber one is in the right price range, but underpowered.

They're still being built with PC gamers in mind, overspending on pointlessly overpowered CPUs or massive HDDs where the bulk of the money should instead be focussed on the graphics card.

Well, there go my extremely unrealistic hopes of a Fallout 4 release :(

EDIT: I was also really expecting at least a couple of new ports today. We'll see what happens in the coming months I guess.
