Quoting: ShmerlI'd suggest another point for barriers for adoption (though it's nowhere new). Windows bundling / lack of Linux sold preinstalled. That would be vendor lock-in :)
The Linux Version Of Dying Light Is Broken

No update ever came up for me... Maybe they stopped it from going out now they realised it's broken?

Quoting: HunterZShould consider breaking up the Debian category, as it accounts for half of the responses on its own. Would like to see the breakdown between SteamOS, Ubuntu, Debian, Mint, etc.I will probably add SteamOS as a separate thing once it's closer to release, but doubt I will break down the others. It's not really the point of the survey. We all know it will mostly be Ubuntu and derivatives anyway and the DE question essentially gives a good idea as to what those derivatives mainly are.
Quoting: LeonardK... maybe we should add a last question asking "Did you carefully read the poll? (No, Yes)"I think people read it closer than one would expect. On the "did you use a Windows partition" question, I switched the answers so people wouldn't choose "no" by mistake but it made no difference... So guess people were reading it right all along :)

I'm in the "having a desktop client is important to me" camp too, there's at least 3 games I'd buy on day 1 of GOG Galaxy, and if the same game is on Both Steam and GOG then I would buy from GOG. I'm sure it's the same with a lot of people.

Quoting: AnxiousInfusionLooks as though GOG is primed to eclipse Humble in the next two months.Pretty much.

Awesome Samsai! It will be good to be able to have more game-related benchmarks in the future.
It's a real shame how much of a letdown AMD is right now, it would be great if Linux gamers had the option of an extra GPU vendor... Had a bit of a grumble about it on the survey article too because it seems that AMD users in the Linux world are declining.

EDIT: Also, they were never "back", the August survey was the first where they were removed and these results are the ones from July.

Quoting: WorMzyArgh! openbox and i3 are back in the list of DEs! *flips table*They're gone in the August survey, this was the last one to feature them :). Forgot to mention the change in the article.
Looks like the proprietary Intel driver users aren't the only people who need educating. :(

I presume a "story-focused DLC" means more:
"Hey guy, we need duct tape over in a [seriously infected area] or otherwise we're all going to die, but there's no one to get it because everyone died from a lack of duct tape," says generic NPC #349 (with an Australian accent for some reason) quite suggestively.
"Well, I volunteer for this extremely dangerous and somewhat pointless fetch quest," says generic main character (you can tell he's the main character because he's American) with no distinguishable personality traits except a disturbingly Freudian desire to please people.
"OH NO, please don't put your life at risk for our sakes," says generic NPC #349 unconvincingly whilst pulling out a cigar and sitting on a giant armchair made entirely of duct tape. "Also, there's [generic problem] so you'll also have to [something else pointless] in [generic middle eastern city] so hop to it."
"No problem, I aim to please apparently"
[22 hours later]
"Oh you're back. We really need wallpaper now, the building's looking a bit worse for wear with all the zombie infestation and stuff or something and we'd really like to make it look FABULOUS. The zombie apocalypse is no reason to appear uncouth now is it"
"No problem, I aim to please"

Dead Island and Dying Light are fun games, but their stories were written by 10-year-olds who have had no exposure to anything other than GTA their entire lives.

1 and 2 were great, some of my favourite games back then and probably second-only to Theme Hosptial in the sim/tycoon/theme games IMO. Lets hope they don't ruin it though...
