Quoting: GuestVery interesting. It would be nice if the results were sorted by percentage.
Yup, I know, it's been bugging me quite a bit too. It's something I've been looking into and something that Liam commented on too.

Basically, at the moment I just take screenshots of the graphs Google Forms generates, so that's the order they come in (which is also the order of the possible responses). I don't want to change the order of the possible responses, since some of them have a logical order, but what I can do is change the order of them after I take the form offline and have the results and (hopefully) that will change the order in the images too.

Don't know if that made any sense... But yeah, next time they should be in the correct order!

EDIT:

Quoting: EikeBy the way, the result for 32 vs. 64 bit is very interesting. For example, the demo of Making History: Great War was not able to run on 64 bit at all and it seemed the developers were totally unaware of that possibility. If I would have had this result, I would have pointed them here.
Do it! That's one of the points of this survey, to help inform developers of important information like this - so if you see any cases like this where they could benefit from the data, let them know because it benefits all of us :)

Quoting: TakThe unique question for December should have "about as much" as an option - that one would be most applicable for me.
Very true! Probably the same for me too actually. I've added it in now before more responses come in. Sorry to those who have already answered but didn't get the option.

The Steam Sales Are On
27 Nov 2014 at 3:47 pm UTC

I bought Super Meat Boy at 75% off... Played it then realised I don't like it.

Bought CS:GO at 50% off... Halfway through installing I remembered I hate FPSs for the 30th time.

These sales really aren't so cheap.

0 A.D. Progress Report, Programmers Needed

I keep thinking with 0AD and SuperTuxKart that they should put it on digital distribution platforms and charge money. Obviously offering a free (gratis) option on their website, but I don't think there's anything lost from offering the exact same thing for money so long as the free option is there. They could hire a programmer with that.

I would pay just for the convenience of running it through Steam and having a tidy game library, I'm sure quite a few other people would and would also bring the games to the attention of people outside the FOSS community.

What Can You Do For Linux Gaming?
22 Nov 2014 at 9:17 pm UTC Likes: 5

Other than the spending money part, I think this is the most important:

Always remain polite. When helping others, when saying thank you, and, if need be, when asking about bugs or support. Remember you are talking to actual living people. Humans like being treated nice. We have already seen developers slow ports down due to Linux users' attitudes.
There's also a lot of developers who don't port to Linux for the money, they do it because it's "the right things to do" or just because they're Linux users. These are the developers who would be most put off by hostility. If there's problems with a port, then we should try and be helpful, for a lot of companies its their first time on Linux too so there's teething pains and we should be understanding.

Time To Guess What Feral Interactive Are Working On, New Teaser

Well to chip in on this whole thing, the next GOL survey results are coming out in just over a week and so far the statistics make me think that if I was a developer, I wouldn't bother with 32-bit Linux either... I can't fault their decision at all.

Like obviously I love Linux and want to see it supported, but given the TINY percentage of 32-bit users, it just isn't worth supporting at all. I think we should be very happy we have what we have, and maybe removing 32-bit support for gaming from the equation, it would be more tempting for developers to port to and develop on Linux because it just means one less hurdle.

EDIT:

If I remember correctly, the X-Com store page didn't state that it was 64bit only, which resulted in some 32bit users purchasing a game that they couldn't play (which sucks, but these things happen).
Also, if that's the case then complaints are justified. Not complaints about not supporting 32-bit (I still think beggars can't be choosers), just complaints that games were bought under the impression which it did.

We should try and get hold of "review copies" for a livestream. Might be fun.

Watched half of the Jim Sterling video, it was too painful to carry on.

Seems like Valve really need to get it together, this is all to similar to Earth: Year 2066.

EDIT: Also interesting to note that there's a lot of accusations of plagiarism and copyright infringement on the Steam forums.

A 'new' signal, and as I noted, the only new game is the one with the "owner of a lonely heart" hint.
Oh sorry, i don't have twitter so missed that.

Quoting: dubigrasu
Quoting: AstroSadly, it would be one more half-ported game by Feral.
Huh?
Yeah, don't know what you mean. Xcom was a very good port.
