From some experiments I did yesterday with getting a friend running Windows to stream, they get a little notification that they have to allow their game to be streamed (I'm not sure if the stream is then publicly viewable or not, but at least a player will never wind up in a situation where they don't realise they have an audience).
Ah right, well I guess that's ok then :). If they add a few more features to it, maybe it could replace Twitch.

From what I can see with all these latest steam developments is that they're basically building software for consoles (SteamOS) and features for it - ie. Steam is moving away (and has already moved quite a bit) from being a purely digital distribution software to being a full-fledged gaming experience like consoles have.

I get kind of excited thinking about SteamOS on the same terms as Android - an OS for third parties to use and do as they wish with... If the same thing happens with gaming hardware that happened with mobiles, essentially we're in for one hell of a ride :), but at the moment we're still at that stage where each manufacturer makes their own software for their own devices. Lets hope this whole thing gains traction.

Yes, that would be nice. Those are the kind of stats I expect them to blurt out when they're giving talks on SteamOS at conferences and things.

Taking a Look at Goat MMO Simulator & Introducing The New Guy

Refreshing to see a video of goat simulator where the person hates it (or at least doesn't pretend to love it). Pewdie-bate is a good term, never heard it before but it makes sense, and like you say, says a lot about the state of the games industry.

Quoting: SpeedsterAs a hint, the title of the developer's homepage is "Billy Goat Entertainment Ltd | satirical animation, not for the sheepish". However, I can understand why someone would not be able to enjoy satire on a sensitive topic -- some people find comedy helps them cope better, but others might find it too painful.
No, that's not really the problem. Effective satire picks apart what it's ridiculing and often tears it to shreds. This doesn't really have that feel, it feels more like that "oh look how outrageous we are with our queens and empires, but nonetheless proud" like a bad High Grant film. Personal preferences I guess.

I didn't really know how to feel about HM Spiffing. It was a game which - in theory - I would enjoy greatly. But then at the same time I was just hugely put off by that ugly nationalism I've grown so sick of over the last 2 years. Even if it was meant ironically (which I assume it was) I get more annoyed by the fact that many people won't see that and think that the British Empire (and the genocide of millions) represent some sort of nostalgic "glory days" which can be looked back upon in pride. So even though it looks like a solid adventure game, just couldn't bring myself to back it.

That Dragon, Cancer is the kind of game which I would like to see more of. I think I'll back that :)

survey is buged?
you can take it multiple times.. so we dont really know if you we got over 1000 unique responses
and no it doesnt even have to be dynamic ip to take multiple times.
Yup, unfortunately on google forms it's either that or take everyone's email addresses... I think I know what most people would prefer and I wouldn't feel comfortable asking people for that kind of information anyway. We'll just have to rely on the fact that the survey takes a long time to fill out, so you'd have to have way too much time on your hands to fill it out multiple times. You'd have to have even more time on your hands to do it month after month 50 or so times to skew the data, so we'll just have to rely on that.

What if you bought exactly 5 games? Should you have answered "2-5" or "5-10"?
As I mentioned in the article, that issue has been addressed already. If you take a look at the new survey (link is at the bottom of the article) the new answers read "2-5" and "6-10", etc.

Quoting: Deformal"No, gamepads are for filthy casuals" - PC master race?:dizzy:
Was a tongue-in-cheek "master race" reference. I'd probably use a gamepad more than mouse if I didn't like adventure or strategy games so much (playing those with a pad is a bit silly). I think gamepads generally give a much better suspension of disbelief than a KB+M ever could, so KB+M may be better for multiplayer FPSs, but to get immersed in a good story or world, don't think you can top a gamepad.

I'd seen this game around a few times but never realised it was so good! I think I might get it, been looking for a game like this that I can really get into :).
