GODOT: The Open Source Engine Behind The Interactive Adventures of Dog Mendonça & Pizza Boy

Quoting: aLYou forgot to mention that the engine is not brand new... Its been around since 2001 and it underwent a lot of iterations already

They use it to make commercial games already... This one is an internal game they had in hold in-house (compared to the rest of the games that were contract works payed by some other company)
Yes I realise that. But it was only made open source this year and the previous games didn't run on Desktop Linux (though some were for Android I think) - and that's what's most relevant to GOL. But yes, they've been working on and using it for a while.

I bet the loading screens take forever. You'll spend ages "Waiting for Godot".
Well in the mean time maybe you could eat a turnip or take off one of your shoes? Heard that passes the time ;)

Why I love GOL:

GOL is fundamental to Linux gaming. For most of us, it is the first port of call for news regarding Linux gaming and provides amazing and varied content. At the same time, it has been instrumental in giving Linux gamers a voice and organising us under one roof from all the dark corners of the web, and no doubt the articles and comments on here have helped get us better ports, more dialogue with developers and most likely more games! I now check (and contribute to) this site more often than anything else, not only for the amazing articles but also to see what people have to say.

At the same time, the community on GOL is amazing. The internet is full of angry trolls, but GOL is full of civilized, respectful and helpful people who just like to play games and want to see their favourite games on the OS they love. The recent situation with Liam's departure is the best evidence of this - in any other site, everything would have crumbled but GOL readers with their pragmatic and enthusiastic FOSS spirit came together and have done a great job of keeping the site going.

Why I love Apyr:

No other company in the Linux gaming space has been so engaging with the community and produced such consistently good work. In a time when the actions and behaviours of gaming companies has been under the spotlight, Aspyr is a breath of fresh air that companies even outside Linux gaming should learn from. They have been open, funny, helpful and just generally cool people to the point where many of us would buy their one of their ports just because they're the ones behind it - even if we're not huge fans of the game itself (though all their games thus far have been great).

May both GOL and Aspyr continue their work for many years to come!

Double Fine is making a re-release. Given their recent track record though, I have no expectations whatsoever.

Well, my position on that is pretty well known: yes, I do think that would be fair, and I'm saddened that many people don't see it that way.
Agreed.

Good luck guys! TFC is essential to GOL, so I hope you can find people to help :)

I was extremely worried about LucasArts under Disney (even more than under George Lucas) but this is a pretty good start.

I'd like to see a re-release of The Curse of Monkey Island and Day of the Tentacle, oh and obviously Kinect Star Wars. To be honest though, I would like to see them stick to re-releases or maybe re-makes (if they're good), I wouldn't want sequels or new adventures if they're going to be disappointing things aimed at iPad users - I'd rather just see more stuff from new companies like Daedalic or those Kickstarter projects from my article.
