It’s difficult for me to fault 1047 games on any of this. No, they didn’t make the next hit free to play shooter either in SG1 or SG2 and no they didn’t solve every problem or anticipate every issue. What they have done is shown a lot of respect and responsibility to their players. This is probably the best possible outcome for SG1. The game may be over, but it isn’t dead. It would be amazing if it was possible to open source the game (or maybe launch a minimal paid version on GOG that is DRM free), but what they have done is respectful to the dozens of us that loved SG1.
THE FINALS broken on Linux - again

It seems it was fixed before I noticed it was broken (though I’ve noticed a couple times in the past). It’s hard to get upset with the finals when Embark’s website has references to the open source projects they give back to and they discuss hiring consultants to test updates on Linux (despite not supporting it officially). Their support has also been quite kind when I’ve reported broken updates on steam deck.

Also, I wonder, does Bazzite Deck on my ROG Ally count as Holo, Fedora, or Bazzite on its own?It would show up under FreeDesktop (flatpak) since Bazzite ships Steam as a system flatpak.

Looks like one of those white label Clevvo or whatever laptops that I believe System76 also uses for a lot of their designs. Maybe I’m wrong. Does Tuxedo design their own chassis and mainboard?

Really enjoying decky loader, though I wish there was some more curation. I don’t like that there’s a memory scanner/memory editor in their store that’s so easily accessible. Although I’m confident that anti-cheat systems are able to find and ban players using that tool in multiplayer games, it unnerves me that it’s so easily accessible in a plugin loader as neat and useful as decky loader.
I suppose at the end of the day, an even semi-motivated bad actor can just google “cheat engine steam deck” and likely find some app image or flatpak that gives them easy access to a memory scanner on deck. In the world of open source, there’s no way to truly prevent someone from installing a memory scanner.

I also was unable to set a monitor refresh rate to anything above 120hz. Setting refresh to 144hz (1440p) caused my display to have strange artifacts.
Switching to Wayland fixed the first problem, switching to AMD fixed the second problem.

Quoting: BlackBloodRumNot my experience with nvidia. Nvidia on xorg was very challenging because I have two monitors with mismatched refresh rates. The proprietary driver would force vsync on and set the max frame rate to the lowest refresh rate monitor. Some games respect disabling vsync in settings, some don’t.Quoting: Mountain ManMultiple displays seem to be a problem for Linux in general. I've been wanting to add a second monitor to my setup for a while, but it would require a lot of hand editing of configuration files, and even that doesn't provide a guaranteed "it just works" solution.Huh?
I've been using two monitors now for as long as I can remember, on Linux. With AMDGPU it's pretty much plug and play, a desktop environment like Gnome, KDE, XFCE etc will for the most part do the heavy lifting for you.
With nvidia, as always it was a little more complex the last time I used it (around 2-3 years ago), but even then the binary blob used to (and probably still does?) provide a graphical interface for configuring monitor layouts and generated an xorg file for you.

Quoting: BlackBloodRumYou are correct, there is no media player yet. If you attempt to navigate to a soundtrack on Deck, then you will get an error saying that Steam soundtrack support has not been added yet.Quoting: jordicomaCan "Media page" play music or videos? I think that it cannot do it.Actually, a music player doesn't seem to be built into the deck[1].
The desktop steam has a music player to listen the game music of some games that can be bought.
[1] Or at least, I haven't found it? Someone should correct me if I'm wrong, I'd love to know where it is!

Very cool! I'm glad that you can finally favorite a server. Typing in my ip address every time I wanted to connect to my dedicated server is pretty obnoxious.
