Quoting: NodThat does look indeed very useful!Quoting: TcheySince BAR (Beyond All Reasons), i cannot play any RTS without the position control (not sure how it’s called) : draw a line to move the troops so they end up on that line instead of a blob full of collisions.Looks like its called Move Line Drag [External Link]. That looks great, never seen that before. Might have to give BAR a try.
The closest I can think of is unit positioning in Myth II which if very good but not quite the same.

GE-Proton 8-25 released, should fix a bunch of early 2000s games

I forgot to add that I am not using the Steam version, I installed from disc. Maybe I am missing an update due to that, so I'll have to take a look and maybe tinker a bit more.
The crashes are a bummer though.

Quoting: whizseI'm getting the same behavior (intros play, music, but a white screen) using standard Wine 8.20.Thanks for the info!
I can get it to run using Proton 7 but I run Proton outside Steam without any containers so it uses my system libraries., otherwise I think it might choke on the intro videos and fail to launch? I'm not sure how non-Steam games work with the video conversion stuff.
The blank screen in the menu might be a Wine regression. I'll see if I can figure it out.
[...]
It is indeed a regression. It's fixed in the upcoming Wine 8.22 release.
This is the fix [External Link] in case you want to poke GE about it.
Unfortunately the game have other issues, it crashes after missions [External Link].

Quoting: Soulprayer[...]That is disheartening to read...
according to PCSX2 developers, Wayland is "super broken/buggy in basically every scenario. KDE isn't too buggy, GNOME is a complete disaster" and have disabled it in their distributions.:grin:
But:
PCSX2 still supports Wayland. It just prefers the XCB/XWayland platform by default. You can set the I_WANT_A_BROKEN_WAYLAND_UI environment variable and experience the brokenness for yourself on the AppImage builds, or add the wayland socket to the flatpak.

Just using Wine I am getting to the main menu, music is playing and I am getting what I have to assume is a missing texture replacement. When using any version of Proton the game won't even start.
Has anyone tried and had any more success of running Crimson Skies?

Quoting: neolithI am going to play Crimson Skies again! On the Steam Deck - woohoo! :woot:Well... apparently I am not going to do that - I cannot get the darn thing to run at all.

Quoting: CatKillerOLEDs would benefit from screensavers for the same reasons as CRTs did.I was about to post exactly that. I've seen flatscreens with horrible burn in. Also, CRTs still exist and are still being used. Sure, it's a niche – but if I'd go through the trouble and the costs of using one, I am pretty sure I wouldn't want to ruin it.

I am currently playing through Zombie Army Trilogy with a friend - calmly doing one or two levels every weekend while hanging out in discord. It is no L4D, but if you like sniping zombies (and don't mind the occasional unfair bit where you need to know in advance what's going to happen) it is good fun.
I recon it is more fun with more friends and pretty boring alone though.

Quoting: whizseFrom the FAQ [External Link]: "The files from the original Windows CD also seem to work, but haven't been thoroughly tested" - So fingers crossed? That seems feasible. Thanks for the link!
Edit: Looks like you need to manually convert the video files though.
