Yep, that's why exactly companies do this with both game titles and company-names. As an example, I learned about this back when Sega Corporation started doing it (you'll often see journalists today writing it as "SEGA", not as "Sega"), which stood out because the original Sega Enterprises Ltd. did not do so.

For SEGA it's at least somewhat justifyable as that is an abbreviation for "Service Games". Also their logo has always been written in capitals.

Oh, I get that the source files should be provided. I am for that for the very reasons you mentioned.

But that wasn't the point I was trying to make.
The rules state that the source files have to be in a non-proprietary format – and that is simply impossible for many software packages one might choose. For example if you were to create your art in Maya, your source files won't be in a non-proprietary format. Same if you choose... say... DPaint on the Amiga for some stylistic reasons. According to the rules you are now excluded from entering.

I think it shouldn't matter what you create your art with.

If asked, you should be able to provide the source files used to create the wallpaper in a non-proprietary format, like an Inkscape-compatible SVG, .blend, .kra, .xcf, etc.

That is a weird requirement. It massively limits the range of tools usable for creation.

Change happened way earlier. IIRC a great many devs left close to the release of the original WoW. Being overworked and not getting a share of the revenue as promised beforehand were topics at the time.

I'd love to win a copy of the game. The demo during the Steam Nextfest played already really nice and it seemed like an interesting idea for a citybuilder.

While it sucks to buy twice, you could think about getting it on Steam, too. Far from a perfect solution, but the game is on sale for something like 4$ every once in a while and it is a pretty good game.
That being said... while my experience with games on Linux is limited, I would never bet on Microsoft to make your life any easier. Vampire Survivors runs pretty well with Proton even on slower hardware and if there ever is a chance for a game to have a native version I recon your chances are much better going with Steam than with the MS Store.

AFAIK you never need to do that. All the games you ever claimed can still be played after unsubscribing from Prime. Just don't delete your amazon account, you still need it to log in to the downloader.
