Saibot Releases Doorways: The Underworld

me either! I sure do like some horror games. The first 2 chapters are $1.99 @ bundlestars (activates on steam) right now for anyone interested, then the 3rd is 8.99 on steam. So if you go that route you can save yourself a $1.01 from buying all 3 in steam for 11.99.

I'm grabbing the fist 2 from bundle stars to try them out and if I like em ill grab the 3rd from steam.

Edit* having second thoughts after reading reviews. I like to have weapons in my horror games, it seems this is along the lines of the amnesia games though, no real weapons just "scares" and "puzzles", I played some of The Dark Descent, but ultimately ended up putting it down and never went back as it ended up getting a little boring to me. anyone who has played these care to chime in?

EDIT2* the 3rd chapter is available on bundlestars as well for 7.99 (8.99 on steam)

So I have actually played a bit more than an hour of the first chapter now. Is it the best horror game IMO? Nopes, not even close. Have there been $2 worth of "scares" so far? Sure. I went out and found a "demo", it was a win version so I played it in wine to try it out and then I just bought the first 2 chapters because oddly I want to keep playing to find out what the hell is going on. The scares are pretty cheap, but enough for that adrenalin rush and just enough to keep you on your toes. There are a bunch of missed chances for scares it feels like but maybe I just have not made it far enough and they aren't trying to scare you away too soon ;). The "puzzles" are nothing to write home about so far but things do seem to be getting more interesting. The whole couple of chapters are only suppose to take a few hours to play through. I think i'll be able to deal with it's "downfalls" and make it through it. Ill give a final "my thoughts" when I get done.

Don't know if everyone else with nvidia hardware has dumb problems with unity games and linux, I do and this one is no exception. vsync doesn't work and neither does AA. Runs better for me with wine unfortunately. I have shot an email to the developer so we shall see what he/she has to say.

Borderlands 2 Also Looks Like It's Coming To Linux, UPDATE: Confirmed
17 Sep 2014 at 3:58 pm UTC

Quoting: supermonkey77I am usually a patient fellow but with both this and Dead Island sitting in my library mocking me with their unplayableness, I am starting to go a little mental.
I'm not very patient and this is killing me haha. It does look like the EULA for Borderlands2 was updated 22hrs ago (SteamDB). Maybe a sign? Less than A month away from The Presequel, I would expect them to want it out way before then.

Skullgirls Developers Detail What's Going On With The Linux Port

hmm.. so with your whole couple of posts TiZ (registered 8 hrs ago) it's obvious you have shown up just for this thread.. who do you work for? or just a fangirl?

If they only asked for $150k to make the content they wanted to make yet made $650k MORE than they had asked for... explain why $10k couldn't have gone toward paying someone to properly port it? It really IS that simple. Pretty sure the game would have been ok with one less fighting character.. stop sticking up for them (yourself?).. it's obviously a waste of time around here, they(u?) screwed up, fix it or deal with the backlash from the very vocal linux community.

EDIT* on a totally unrelated side note. My new laptop needs some stickers. I would like a GOL sticker for it. Does that exist? if not it really should.

EDIT2* I want to clarify that I didn't mean anything bad by the use of the term "fangirl".. I should have chosen my wording differently. And yes, we are normally a quite positive and enthusiastic bunch. Some of us just get a bit "mouthy" when it seems the linux crowd is getting the run around. This is the last thing I will say on this topic I just hope that the devs (and the volunteer ones) get it figured out for the sake of those who want to play it and not rely on windows. Oh and see my first EDIT!

I am glad you have come by to help try to clear things up, it's always good to hear from the devs themselves. BUT!, here is my problem with the whole thing, and maybe the figures from the OP are a bit off?. Assuming they are correct, your crowd funding goal was $150k. You not only beat that but you beat it by a magnitude of (800k/150k=5.333) FIVE(5)! Even if you had been extremely transparent about the linux port being voluntary, and/or worded it correctly... it seems to me that with that extra Six Hundred & Fifty Thousand Dollars ($650,000) you could have maybe paid someone a few "pennies" to do the port for you. I think you would be in MUCH better standing now had you made a little less content and spent some cash on the linux port. You guys/gals HAD to know this (backlash from the linux community) was coming...

WOW! That is one of the shadiest things I have ever read. I wouldn't even take a free steam key for this game now. Not that I was interested in one in the first place, but this just seals that deal. Greedy bastards.

Pirates, Vikings and Knights II Source Engine Game Coming To Linux
15 Sep 2014 at 9:42 pm UTC

Quoting: sevenno multi monitor problems in dota on fedora 20
Nvidia/AMD? what gpu(s)?

The games (HL, HL2 + all Eps, Portal, Portal 2, TF2, L4D2 and now DOTA2)all do the same exact thing to me when played in Ubuntu and now Arch linux @ 5760x1080. I have to FORCE (through xorg.conf) "nvidiaXineramaInfo" "False" so that it does not pass Openbox information about my separate monitors, so it's one big 5750x1080 monitor as far as it knows (everything maximizes across all 3 screens). Even that workaround does not work in XFWM because it gets it's multi monitor info from randr and not xinerama, so the game still sees 1920x1080 as the 1st monitor and then COMPLETELY refuses to run at any higher resolution. Then when I do force the res and play via openbox, I can only max out some settings, others cause massive image corruption and usually it seems it forces texture quality to the lowest no matter what my settings are at because textures become far less sharp when compared to not forcing it @ 1920x1080. I am completely use to having to tweak cfgs and play with things in games to get them to work right with my res. The source engine games are the only ones I have failed to get working *right*. I have simply gone to using those games in wine when I want to play them because they work.

I know I am not the only one either because others have chimed into my bug reports saying the same thing.

Below is a link to the screen shots I posted in the bug reports. The texture degradation is harder to see in the HL1 screen shots. It's easy to see in the HL2-ep1 shots though. As you can see In ep2 shot @ 5760x1080 is all kinds of borked. Then the P2 shot is what happens with going to high shader, same thing I see when I start a dota2 game. The games main menus work fine.

Mojang Confirms Microsoft Is Buying The Minecraft Maker

Quoting: Crazy PenguinIs there a reason why Linux isn't mentioned here?
On one hand you could say "PC/Mac" includes Windows, Linux and Mac. On the other hand though Microsoft doesn't have much in the way of monetary incentive to keep MC4Linux alive at this point in time, we are small right now after all. Really it has every reason to kill it from their point of view.

So, should hey kill it, does MC play well with wine? WineHQ's reports are all over the place.

Pirates, Vikings and Knights II Source Engine Game Coming To Linux

Looks like it could be fun. Unfortunately, I simply can't get behind any more Source engine games until either A.) Valve fixes multi monitor Linux support in source 1 or B.) Source 2 officially comes out and it has fixed multi monitor support for Linux.

I tried to load up DOTA2 yesterday.. same multi monitor issues as the rest of them. I ended up installing it via wine and it works just fine (lol, that rhymes). Hopefully I get some free time this evening to actually dive in and try to play it. Maybe I should repost my multi monitor bug reports to their DOTA bug reports page on github.. maybe they pay attention to that one? They sure as hell don't seem to be paying attention to the other bug report pages.

Mojang Confirms Microsoft Is Buying The Minecraft Maker

Quoting: GuestDon't forget the merchandising. Minecraft toys are just as overpriced as the game itself. Minecraft is not GPLed. I kinda hope Microsoft buys all the proprietary games. For that matter, they can buy all the GPLed games as well :)
I guess I wasn't counting that. I don't have kids, so I can't say I browse the toy aisle at walmart/target much except a couple of times a year for gifts, and even then I send the GF on those runs most of the time ;). I don't think I have ever seen a Minecraft toy or collectible though. I admit my opinion is probably skewed by the fact that I don't play it, I tried, didn't get the fascination. Was just a game with not really any sense of direction and horrid graphics to me. Just no matter how I think about it though.. $2.5B? That's a lot of $$ for a "one hit wonder" studio with an arguably dieing product. Not to say there are not many people still playing it.. I'm sure their monthly sales have taken a nose dive though. Especially with all the free/cheaper clones out there. There has to be something else there.

What I want to know is what Mojang has up it's sleeve that we dont know about. Minecraft cannot be worth that kind of $$.
