Puppy Games Aren't Impressed With Linux Sales (UPDATED)
8 Sep 2014 at 7:59 pm UTC Likes: 7

First, this is easy for me to say because they don't make games I am interested in but.. this sounds like whining to me. They are not making money from their total sales of any of their games on all platforms as outlined by them HERE. [External Link]. All I am seeing is that they are spending a bunch of time to make games that not enough people want to play on Windows, Mac or Linux... and well linux is an easy target for a temper tantrum.

The linux gaming userbase IS small... the amount of gamers who use linux and play indie games like these may be even smaller. Whining about it wont fix it... and that $12000 is only for steam.. it doesnt accound for other linux sales or people who had them before native versions and probably played them with wine. They are not breaking even WITH linux support.. they wouldn't be doing it without either.

EDIT* I also just realized that their "factor of 10" thing is simply absurd.. according their own blog post they have hardly made that much in total for some of their games.. what a joke. Also, just read their blog, not just the one post I linked.. a lot of butthurt and crying going on there. PLUS, they don't support game demos and apparently think a video showing their game working is enough to prove it will work on your machine, and they state the obvious that making demos allows people to realize they don't like your game before buying it. Sorry Puppy Games.. -1 respect. At least I'm not a sale you would have had anyways.

New Humble Weekly Bundle (5 Linux Games Out Of 7)
5 Sep 2014 at 12:09 am UTC Likes: 1

I have not purchased a HB for a while... there simply hasn't been anything Ive wanted to spend $$ on. I admit that I am not much of an indie gamer though, and the big name game bundles are far and few between or I already have the games. I have such a backlog of games, I am having more fun waiting for the ones I have not played getting ported to linux and playing them on it than buying new ones :D Trine and The Witcher are both games I have owned but never played til they came to linux.

Quoting: Hamish
Quoting: joshmnz$6 for that anmesia game alone is worth it IMO
I am rather doubtful that there are many people on here who do not already own it though.
ding ding ding! :P

Borderlands 2 Also Looks Like It's Coming To Linux, UPDATE: Confirmed

Does anyone know exactly what THIS [External Link] is? I'm new to using the steamdb so maybe someone can clarify... it says status: available, but using the "View package on Steam" link just goes to steams home page.

Feral Interactive Wish To Know Why You Game On Linux
3 Sep 2014 at 5:04 pm UTC Likes: 4

I'm positive all of my reasons have been posted by page 4.. but ill contribute anyways.

1.) I use linux for everything else.
2.) I use linux for everything else.
3.) see reasons 1 & 2
4.) windows has severly gone down hill in the last decade-ish. It's bloated and resource heavy when doing nothing but being there.. which actually translates to worse performance for gaming when compared to linux. Wolfenstein: The New Order runs better at higher settings in WINE than it does on it's native platform for me. Crazy I know...
5.) this one kinda coincides with #4, customization! windows is bloated because it tries to be "one size fits all". With linux I can make it as streamlined and small as I want, for instance my laptop which eats about >400mb of ram sitting idle in XFCE. Or it can be as a multi purpse work horse with multiple WM's and DE's with specific uses. For me that is XFCE, tweaked out to create my beautiful desktop. Then I have a very basic openbox setup JUST for gaming.
6.) Being able to shutdown everything except TTY1 and start games in their own X server, thus giving them the whole machines resources.

Show me a windows desktop this awesome looking that isn't using a ton of bloated 3rd party "customization" apps that only half work and are NOT free and break with windows updates all the time...

Hopefully B1 wont be too far behind.. just for completion sake. Also nvidia needs to hurry up with linux PhysX. Say whatever you want about it... borderlands uses it, and it's amazing with it. If you say you can't tell the difference between playing it with advanced gpu PhysX and no PhysX or turned down PhysX.. please step up to the ______ so I can smack the crap outta you, you poor, blind mofo ;)

J/K.. or am I?

EDIT: Liam since you have been in contact with them, will you let them know our community is ready and willing to beta test if/when they need. If they are worried about too many people jumping in just for the beta, limit it to people who's GOL accounts were created before today maybe?

EDIT Again: Like Dead Island, Borderlands 2 is already showing up on my linux game list in steam.

Ryan Icculus Gordon On The Linux Action Show
2 Sep 2014 at 3:42 pm UTC

I watched this when it floated through my twitter feed. Knew who the guy was, no clue what he looked like, or his personality. I agree with neffo, they should have just let him talk. He seems like the kind of person I could hang out with, nice guy for sure. Ive followed him on twitter now.

Trine Enchanted Edition May Have A Linux Beta
1 Sep 2014 at 3:59 pm UTC

I started trine2 for linux but stopped when I heard about trine1 coming. Never played either game so I figured I would wait to be able to play through T1 first. T2 although not exactly in my comfort zone is quite fun though.

Quoting: GoCorinthiansPS: DeadFall is so far a great looking game alike Metro. Apart that, an Allan Quatermain story? damn...i will enjoy it!
I just purchased deadfall on steam based on your statement, and it's %75 off for the next 15 minutes. Hope you're right! Reviews are mixed but I like "tomb raiderish" games and indiana jones.. how bad could it be? ;)
