Mad Max meets Vulkan in a new fully public beta for Linux, benchmarks and OpenGL vs Vulkan comparisons

Those figures are unbelievable. Impressive is an understatement here.

I know that Feral isn't planning to have Deus Ex support Vulkan. But with those figures one can only hope that they reconsider.

Not necessarily a game that I need to pick up at day one. But it sounds and definitely looks interesting. Looking forward for the reviews.

Quoting: LeopardShmerl in a nutshell: Praises and feels excited about games also releasing GOG versions;dislikes and not interested at all Steam only Linux games.
And your point is?

Day of Infamy, the WWII FPS has been fully released and is officially available for Linux

Quoting: inlinuxdudeI saw this on Steam last night and was checking it out. It has great reviews, and I used to love that type of game (played Wolf:ET on Linux for thousands of hours).. My only reservation is my twitch reflexes aren't what they used to be when I was younger, so I'm kind of hesitant to drop $20 for a FPS game where I'll likely be outclassed and quit playing soon. So, maybe I'll wait for a sale to pick it up.
Don't worry too much, you wouldn't be the only one whose reflexes ain't anymore what they used to be. (In fact, I consider myself a really bad FPS player but I still greatly enjoy Day of Infamy.)

Day of Infamy isn't one of those run 'n gun games that all tend to end up in a frenzy, like for example Battlefield. It's a tactical shooter and in my opinion the pacing is just right.

I greatly enjoy Day of Infamy and totally prefer it to Insurgency. It has something that Insurgency and, in fact, most multiplayer FPS lack: atmosphere. New World Interactive did a great job with the sound design to bring this game alive. The fights are usually tense and even if we lose, I often find them pretty rewarding nonetheless.

I can only recommend this game.

The Whispered World Special Edition is now available for Linux

Quoting: SalvatosIt's hard to overstate just how damn depressing that clown is. If the game's humor were better it might offset him, but I don't remember finding anything in the game more than mildly amusing, especially when so much of it is at the expense of a character. It's quirky in a way that could be charming but for me it felt awkward most of the way. I can't help but feel that while I could applaud Daedalic for succeeding in making Sadwick a sad and pitiful character as intended, I am more inclined to point out that not many people want a main character to be a pitiful self-defeatist that drags his feet through the whole adventure. I don't want to hate the game, but the protagonist really irks me.
Totally agree here.

The artwork is fantastic, as with all the adventure games by Daedalic. But the main character totally ruins this game, which is also typical for Daedalic games.

The only game by Daedalic that I still find interesting is Memoria so I'd be glad if that would make it to Linux eventually. Unfortunately, the game hangs from time to time when played through wine.

Quoting: iniudanTheir games don't have DRM, they just use steam for centralized patching and versioning. You could copy the folder elsewhere and run the game without steam if you wanted.
Oh, I didn't know that. Thanks for the advise.

The RPG 'Eschalon: Book I' is now completely free, to celebrate being 10 years old
28 Feb 2017 at 6:34 pm UTC

Wow, 10 year...

Bought Eschalon Book I and II directly from Basilisk when they were first released. Never finished them though. They are beautiful games nonetheless and I don't regret having bought them at release.

Looks like Telltale's 'The Walking Dead' may be coming to Linux

Played through the first game on the PS3 and thoroughly enjoyed it. I own both, the first and second season now on GOG.com. The game works great in wine but it would be a blast to have it natively on Linux.

It sure looks very interesting!

AMD officially announce Ryzen 7 CPUs for launch on March 2nd

I'm really interested in AMD's new CPUs. Especially the Ryzen 7 1700 with only a TDP of 65 sounds very interesting.

Now if these things pack some serious computing power while consuming less energy than my current setup, I may consider building myself a new computer.
