League of Legends likely unplayable on Linux / Steam Deck soon due to Vanguard anti-cheat

Quoting: BlackBloodRumBut it still begs the question, why are some people accepting of this?
Because the "average player" is an illiterate pig that would accept whatever, even selling their mother just so they can keep playing their chosen videogame. It's come to that. The average player has no principles at all.

I know there are gamers who are not like that, but the average Joe is a mindless drone that won't bother about anything, they want to play and they'll never realize the price they are paying to play.

Oh well, a game to keep avoiding, any anticheat at kernel level is a no-go for me.

So what the heck is an 'indie game' nowadays anyway?

I think we should start cathegorizing indie games as we do with A games.
An indie game must be done by an independent studio. It means the studio MUST be the only one having a say in their game. That's the main point.
Sure, the game might look like an AAA one (baldur's gate 3 for example) but will always be an indie.
HOWEVER, maybe baldur's gate could be called an III game (because they had a studio behind, but it was not a shareholder corporate wanting just money)
Then, a game like Stardew Valley would be an I game because... well, it was just a guy doing it, nobody else in the middle.
Last, there would be an II game. Something in the middle between being all by yourself and having behind a strong studio (that, still is not owned by a stakeholder council), maybe we could include there games like those pubblished by Devolver and other small pubblishers.

Quoting: JpxeEither helping out with the anti cheat development
Nice idea! It would really help some small studios that maybe don't have the resources to do it!

Quoting: Jpxeor actively buying some companies to fix the problem
Not nice idea! We don't want the industry to be bought even more than right nwo. look at what happens with the likes of embracer group or epic...

Quoting: Guestoh no I won't be able to play fifa, what a tragic loss of this masterpiece
Are you suggesting that this (not)fifa is not just a rooster update with a name change? I am shocked, SHOCKED for the consequences of this.

By the way, here in Italy, people are calling it "Fa Cagare 24" (you could translate it as "Really Sucks 24").

Survive The Fog is an upcoming third-person survivor-like action rogue-lite

Sigh
Just when I somehow managed to stop playing Vampire Survivors and thought it was over, I find Time Wasters (yeah... don't do it, you want to keep your free time under control)... And now you show me a 3rd person Vampire Survivors. I just hope it launches in a while so I can have only one survivors-like game at a time.

Interesting the Genshin Impact fix. But doesn't Mihoyo ban you if you play through proton because of the anticheat shenanigans?

Overwatch 2 out on Steam - works fine on Steam Deck and desktop Linux

Quoting: christofinSome of the Steam reviews are embarrassing, making sickening rape jokes and are just a general toxic cesspit. Valve really needs to strap on some Hazmat suits and clean up their community.
Quoting: BelaptirI'm not gonna talk about the rape jokes and all the other cesspool comments, but still, it's undeniable that the game is being managed awfully by Blizzard.
WTF!?

What the hell is wrong with people!?

Gotta stay away from Steam Reviews sections.
Whenever I see a game being review bombed, I tend to stay away from the review section and look elsewhere to make a judgement about it. But to be honest, it's the same everywhere else. If you go check metacritic reviews on somewhat polemic games you'll find the same cesspit.
To me, it's not "Steam community". It's just internet being internet. Give someone the chance to speak "anonymously" and you'll find the true self of them. And sadly, there's a lot of awful people around (although there's also a good bunch of nice people, not everything is so bad as it looks).

I never take part in review bombings, and like in other games, I didn't reviewed this one either.

With that said, I can't in good faith recommend this game. I'm not gonna talk about the rape jokes and all the other cesspool comments, but still, it's undeniable that the game is being managed awfully by Blizzard.
Not only the cut content and how they acted about it, but battle passes with characters locked behind it (or behind paywalls), 20$ skins, 15$ coop missions... I don't feel like the game nor the company deserve my time or money.

Also, if you own the OST (which you totally should because the main theme by itself is worth the money they ask), they updated it with the new songs from the update, including the full song from the trailer, which is an absolute banger that every freedom bringer should listen to at least once a day.

PS: it's absolutely not me... At all.

Steam Stealth Fest launches July 24th

Quoting: BelaptirBy the way, I know it's not the same but if you're looking for a nice old school stealth game, try UnMetal, extremely fun and... If you can, play it with the original voices (in Spanish), they are waaaaaay better than the English dub. I couldn't stop laughing during the whole game.
Hehehe! Thanks for the recommendation - this game looks hilarious!
Behind all the jokes there's a very good game, similar to the old metal gear for the msx with an extremely unexpected ending (in a good way). It's probably going to be on sale for the fest so I'd wait to get it then.
