Will it still be a topdown click to move game? I prefer free motion 3rd person mmo's and runescape never looked appealing to my playstyle

I personally haven't touched tomb raider since I was like 9 years old back in the PS1 days so I don't know what the new series is even like.

Oh God. Russian native game marketed towards both Americans and Russians and involving an antagonistic Russian v. American war scenario. The trolling will reach never before seen levels.
Steam now has over 1800 games available for SteamOS & Linux

Still, in even the realm of Windows games I've yet to find an MMORPG with a balance that gave me the feeling of exhilaration from raiding with a group against a boss with several mechanics, the satisfaction of having advanced and personalized my character, twitch and FPS combat integration, and only eaten up about 2 hours of my time a day max. Highly doubt such a game will ever appear or is even possible but I can dream.

Quoting: Mountain ManHonestly, I couldn't be happier with the current state of Linux gaming. As someone who has felt the addictive touch of MMORPG's from EQOA, WoW, Rift, and ESO there is still one thing missing for me. But it might be a good thing as once an MMORPG has me in its clutches I become a shell of a person dedicated to the advancement of a fictitious character and tend to neglect important RL duties >.<

Quoting: KimyrielleStill a shame that we have 1,800 games and not -one- major MMO title. Getting one is my biggest hope for 2016. That and a Fallout 4 port.I was kind of satisfying my craving for MMO's with ESO in Wine. It has surprisingly very good performance in Linux and everything works for me. Plus supporting a title with native OpenGL may fall short of supporting linux ports but is a step in the right direction. I'm looking forward to getting back into ESO in February when they release their overhaul of the OpenGL implementation which raises OpenGL support from 2.1 to 4.2.

100 hours into Insurgency and I'm still really liking it but some variety could be nice.

Or that was my understanding from having skimmed Wiki articles and the such. I'm still very much wet behind the ears.

Quoting: neowiz73no worries about the FOSS drivers, those will be released by the Khronos Group once Vulkan is officially released. So it should be easy porting for the rest of Linux.Khronos makes drivers? I thought they were strictly into API development and licensing them out. As far as I know the only relation Khronos has with FOSS drivers is that they upheld SGI's decision to allow Mesa to develop OpenGL drivers without purchasing a license.
So most likely the usual upstream will happen. Ubuntu and based distros may get it sooner, through their graphics-drivers ppa. Unless they have plans to push these drivers to the official repos sooner and try to get them available by the time 16.04 goes stable. I kind of doubt it though, most likely it will be the 16.10 release.
At least we should consider these newer ports due to come out in March/April for possible first contenders to show off the new drivers. all I know is Linux will be crazy awesome going forward on this. Not just for gaming but overall general performance and battery life on Laptops, plus this will help the adoption of Wayland and Mir that much better.
I'm really looking forward to seeing this available through the Unreal Engine and we see Ark adopt this very soon as well.

New Linux Gamer Survey For January

Quoting: opera"Did you buy a Steam Machine?"Same. Though some unexpected expenses, vet bill and car repair bill, have pushed the date back quite a bit for when this can happen. I think I'll go ahead and wait to build it when Pascal and Zen are available which is roughly a year.
I missed the choice "build my own".
Insurgency FPS adds official Steam Controller support, better gamepad support overall

I bought this game when it came out for Linux and now have 60 hours playtime with it. Love it. It seems that the developers have been considering porting it over to a new game engine for a while now and I'm eagerly waiting to hear if they're going to go through with it and with which engine. Last I heard they were leaning towards UE4.
My one complaint with the game is that there is no Mac or Linux support for downloading custom maps from FastDL servers in-game.
Edit: Re-read some material and was mistaken, they're not looking towards porting Insurgency to a new engine. What they are planning actually is to build a new game with Insurgency model on new game engine and while it's in progress already it's still a couple of years out.
