Project Vaulderie Is A Fan Made Remake Of Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines
3 Sep 2014 at 6:09 am UTC

Quoting: BOYSSSSSOur plan includes of releasing the game once it’s completed, both as a standalone build and as a Greenlight title, being part of Steam’s integration. You will be required to own a copy of the game in order to install any given versions, as some contents are mandatory to be converted in order for the game to work. We will update this section soon for further detail.
Ok, that makes sense. Would be nice if they found a way to distribute it DRM free to though. The original isn't on any DRM free digital stores that I can find though, otherwise they could have made it a requirement to own the original before being able to download the remake.

That sounds very cool but isn't there any legal issues tied to a project like that?

Firewatch, A First Person Mystery Game Finally Reveals Itself In A Trailer
2 Sep 2014 at 1:08 pm UTC

I watched the trailer the other day and I agree that it looks very promising. I'm not surprised though given all the talented people they've brought on board from popular indie developers like Double Fine, Telltale Games, Klei and others.

It includes a new set of 36 puzzles as well as a random puzzle generator
There goes my life...
I tried one of the random puzzles yesterday (using the date as seed) and it was surprisingly good and complex. It was completable without guessing but it did also have several redundant clues, making it less interesting and easier than the designed puzzles. Another thing is that there's no introduction to the different kinds of clues in these puzzles, so players new to the series should definitely play the regular levels first.

I also played through the first three sets or so of those and they were great. Hard to put down once I had started playing.

The Journey Down Chapter 2 Released For Linux
31 Aug 2014 at 7:49 am UTC

I played through this earlier in the week and I've got to say, as much as I really liked the first chapter, this chapter was a big step up in almost every regard. It looks gorgeous (with a few minor exceptions), the voice acting was more consistently good, the story is richer and paced well and the puzzles were really good. Not of the overly hard variety mind, but still complex enough to be very satisfying and I think they really succeeded at giving them a feeling of moving the story forward.

Braid's Linux Version Is Finally Heading To Steam (UPDATED)

That's certainly good news. I'm not as huge a fan of it as many, but I recognize that it has its place in gaming history and has done a lot to inspire some of my favourite puzzle platformers.

Metro 2033 Redux For Linux Looks Closer To Reality

Quoting: EKRboiIt is my understanding that this will not be as gimped on linux as the original LL was due to the outdated ogl used in order to support mac. There will supposedly be very little if any difference in visuals between the linux and win version.
Oh, so they're dropping support for Mac? I thought I'd seen that somewhere before (and looking at SteamDB there are only depots for Windows and Linux at the moment), but I wasn't sure.

Would be nice if Linux catches up with Mac in number of games on Steam within a couple of years.

Crystal Picnic, A Colourful 2D RPG Released

Quoting: GuestI don't usually buy direct from the developers, because having to register in every site is a nightmare. However, I would do it in this case because AFAIK no reseller includes the Android, GNU/Linux, Muck OS X, Windoze and OUYA versions. It's a good deal.
This one actually doesn't require you to register beforehand though. You get login credentials sent to the e-mail address registered with your PayPal account when you buy, and then just put them into a form when selecting which version you want to download. That's a pretty convenient solution.

Quoting: fleskI just backed Major Drips but I'm now starting to wonder how legit it really is. The campaign has only 29 backers but has still reached $6K of its $20K funding goal, largely because it has both a $1000 and a $3500 backer. Add that to the fact that it's participating in OUYA's #FreeTheGames fund and it looks a bit sketchy to me.
Uh-oh, I'm afraid you may be right... The vast majority of those 29 backers [External Link] are first-time pledgers and newly registered to Kickstarter.
Oh, that's a shame. :/ I was hoping we had seen the last of those projects by now.

He does have a lot of subscribers to his YouTube channel [External Link] though, so there's a chance that they are legitimate pledges.

Regarding Hard West, it looks interesting but I've recently decided that the stance I'm most comfortable with regarding campaigns that offer Linux only as a stretch goal is that I won't back the campaign until after the stretch goal has been met. Still, I'm much more eager to back a campaign that has Linux as goal right from the start.

I'd be interested to know what you think of campaigns where only Windows and/or Mac is a goal for PC but where they also target another platform you might own, like Wii U, Android, iOS, PS4 or XBone. I've backed some of those for a Wii U/Android version in the past and I'm currently tempted by Adventures of Pip, but on the other hand I don't feel right about supporting further segregation between Windows/Mac and Linux on PC.
