Dead Island 2 arrives on Steam boasting of Steam Deck support

While I'm glad that they even addressed the Deck, I'm not entirely sure why any developer or publisher has to explain that their game WONT WORK ON THE FIRST LAUNCH. Imagine they did that with any other platform and they'd get slammed immediately.

Former Nouveau driver lead joins NVIDIA and sent a massive patch set

Quoting: Liam DaweBut that makes literally zero sense in this context. What are they going to extinguish exactly? They're contributing to make their open source driver better - it's exactly what we want.
I think people are just confused why Nvidia has suddenly done a 180 and are worried that it's just another trick rather than some actually good news.

If it was bad news, though, why bother going through the trouble of open-sourcing stuff and then hiring developers? I think the worst thing that could happen is that Nvidia takes all the credit for providing good open-source drivers despite it actually just being the tremendous efforts of a select few.

Team Fortress 2 64bit support released, plus Vulkan for Linux via DXVK

I'm glad that they did this but I'd just wish that, if they're going to keep this game on maintenance mode, they would just hand this over to an outside team while they keep the IP

I actually quite like the idea of Playstation Overlay. Gaining trophies and achievements on their platform while not even being on it means you're not tied down to hardware you don't want. My PS4 might soon become my sister's Stardew Valley machine.

Half-Life remake Black Mesa has a big upgrade with DXVK 2.3.1, optimizations and bug fixes

Quoting: PyrateAnd if Proton is easier to deal with, what could be the downsides?
Honestly not much but it used to be a bigger pain in the butt until VERY recently. Before, you had to install a game, then select a Proton version, then boot it up, then see what's missing, then use Winetricks to install the missing dependencies, then rinse and repeat until the game finally works. Mind you, this is ignoring the fact that game-breaking bugs could show up mid-session so you'd have to exit the game and find out what the problem was online.

Nowadays, 99% of games work with the latest version of Proton out of the box and the ones that don't are either never intended to work (like multiplayer games with invasive anti-cheat) or listed on ProtonDB with very quick fixes.

Thank GOD! Black Mesa has been broken forever on Linux and you had to manually change to Proton in order to fix the issues. Hopefully they fix that and the controller support, which should be a lot better now.

Nice to see that they're not giving up on this game. I'm a bit worried seeing as they have many other games also in Early Access so I really want them to finish this one off.

Quoting: Purple Library GuyTastes differ I guess. I don't care how "Wild West" the game is, I don't want a chicken coop on my couch.
It sounds like you talk from experience.
