Quoting: devlandAmazon probably paid gog to do this since they are struggling financially.
GOG is struggling financially??? I'm out of the loop here, since when were they struggling?

Steam Deck hits over 14,000 games rated Playable or Verified

Quoting: ExpandingManI still wish steam would have another badge rather than "unsupported" for games which work perfectly fine on linux more generally. I can't tell you how many "unsupported" games I've played without any issue whatsoever. Miraculously the situation is *way better* than the number of "verified" and "playable" games would indicate.
The problem seems to be that Valve doesn't really give games a second pass once they've gone through the Verification process once, unless the game is popular enough for Valve to notice. Sadly, I'm not sure what the solution is here.

Fedora Workstation 41 will drop GNOME X.Org session as fallback option

Quoting: STiATHope we can use NVK by then... since I have little hope that the proprietary nvidia wayland support will get better, to be true, it got worse from 535 to 545 :D. Those flickering issue in certain applications is annoying.
Not a promise but I believe that NVK is no longer experimental and has been said by the developer to be mature by the end of the year.

Quoting: ElectricPrismI'm curious why do you think this would be strategically in Valve's interest? How would they stand to benefit? And Are there any observable behaviors or things in the news that align with this hypothesis?
Well, NVIDIA makes up most of the PC market. Most people switching to SteamOS won't know to grab an AMD graphics card just for Linux. They'll either stick to Windows or complain to Valve that their PC doesn't work right even though Valve has no control over it. Waiting for NVK to mature is the right move because it means that they can hire developers to work on issues that they find without any red tape. Actually, Valve Devs are already helping out with NVK.

A few Steam users are complaining that this update removes online multiplayer. I'm not sure how many people were playing this game but it's still a removed feature.

Windowkill is a clever multi-window twin-stick shooter that moves around your screen

Quoting: ShabbyXIs it running on GL or Vulkan? It's very easy to introduce inefficiencies with the Vulkan Swapchain API, so if it's Vulkan and this isn't blowing up in memory or crashing on some drivers due to fence cleanup issues, kudos to Godot!
Considering it was made with Godot 4, it's probably Vulkan.

Free and open source evolution sim Thrive gets big new gameplay features in v0.6.5

This isn't my kind of game but I'm interested to see developers move from Godot 3 to 4. For anyone that doesn't know, Godot 4 came with a major rewrite of all systems, meaning that most projects have to be converted manually. There is a converter but it doesn't catch everything and some behaviours are just different in G4.

What I want to see is if moving to G4 will bring any performance improvements and if it will bring any other benefits. Most projects I know, like DevDuck's Dauphin, transitioned early on in production so seeing a game of this scale transition should be an interesting sight.
