Quoting: DorritGood news.
And, personally, I couldn't care less about ray tracing.
I'm probably some weird exception, but I still don't see what RTX brings to the table... I look at screenshots of games RTX on/off and it doesn't impress me that much... "More realistic lighting systems"... Ok, I understand the point... So? You could pass me an RTX off image for an RTX ON one and I wouldn't second guess it; the games are looking fabulous even with RTX off. Will I pay a premium for RTX? Will I pay a premium to see my fps drop from 80fps to 40fps because of RTX? Nope!

I probably have modest requirements.

Valve help developers into adding more controller support with new stats

Quoting: dubigrasuSo Steam Controller 2%, much lower than what I expected.
Then again, the stats here are much better in this regard (27%:
https://www.gamingonlinux.com/render_chart.php?id=1010&type=stats
Interesting difference.
... But considering the fact that the "Other" category is 4%, it's not bad either. I didn't expect the Steam controller to be that much popular since there was only one iteration and it's been sold for quite a limited time compared to Steelseries, Razer, Logitech and many other controllers (which are in this "Other" category, I guess).

I might just have put on my rose tinted glasses here.

Metro Exodus still due on Linux this year, Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition announced

Quoting: IggiI guess my bitterness is coming from the fact that almost all of their physical games are bound to Steam (which imho totally defeats the purpose of a physical medium - why would I buy an offline media if I have to be online to be able to use it anyway?)
I understand it depends on the game, but I have never been unable to play a Steam game offline. Sure, it grumbles a bit--the popup message is like "I can't find Steam! The horror!! (sigh) OK, all right, do you want to play offline?"
And then I do. I don't do this all that often, but I sometimes do, and as I said, I've never had any problem doing it.
There are a couple of games that you may even launch without Steam... Witcher 3 is one such exemple. I can launch it via .exe file in the Steam folder and it works...Steam won't even start. You'll loose the benefit of accessing your cloud saves, but it works.

Quoting: Purple Library GuyBut . . . but that's impossible! Didn't Proton kill native releases?!?!
I'm wondering if Stadia isn't responsible for the fact that 4A decided to maintain Linux support in their in-home game engine? Otherwise, I don't know if they would be willing to put that much effort in upgrading their Linux support, considering that the game already runs pretty well via Proton... Just a question mark I have.

Crayta now free to play on Stadia and gets Crowd Play, Little Nightmares II free on Pro

Personnally I'd like to see some form of true Linux based AndroidTV-like OS that integrates all store fronts (Steam/EGS/GoG Galaxy/some form of Lutris/etc... into a 100% controller friendly/operated UI that could be the main OS for a new console.

But who could be willing to put efforts into such a device? If not Valve, who?

Still unconvinced.

Can't say that I'm surprised either, but Epic exclusivity and no Steam...

Even if it would have been Windows only, it would have been fun if Google had considered an unnofficial Linux build (Stadia) on Steam...

This said, Stadia will make more developers know how to program on Linux. It's not a direct benefit, but it's not a total nothing.

Edit: Just realised... Is Google responisble for that decision or is it on the publisher's side (Unit 2 Games Ltd)?

Crayta will also be heading to the Epic Store for the main Windows release, so no Linux desktop support - Stadia only.

Yeah... But... Where is NHL21?!:grin:
I used to play the NHL games. But buying them every year I started to realize how repetitive they got. I think the last one I have is NHL 2002. I haven't paid much attention to them in years. Last I heard the PC versions of the game didn't get the attention that the console versions got and were missing features. Is that still the case? Or do they even release the PC version anymore?
In fact, the last PC version is 2009. It's not even in 1080p.
I usually spend my time actually playing hockey. But since there is no beer league hockey going on with the pandemic measures, I might have picked up the latest version of the EA game.

Steam has Bush League Hockey [External Link], which seems like it's trying to look like the SNES era version of the EA games. But the reviews are mixed.
And this one, which looks like NES Ice Hockey:
