Halls of Torment the retro Diablo styled Vampire Survivors-like 'closing in on the finale'
21 Feb 2024 at 1:14 pm UTC

Tried the Demo but I'm enjoying more the Deep Rock Galactic Survivor as my hordelike of choice lately. I think the mechanics hooked me up more than the ones of Halls Of Torment that seem to be more similar to other games on this genre.

NVIDIA 535.154.05 for Linux brings a few bug fixes
18 Jan 2024 at 5:25 pm UTC

Some of the topics of this bugfix might play a role on the hotcpu bug I'm facing right now [External Link], due to the Optimus and multigpu aspects of a laptop...

I'll give it a try.

AYANEO NEXT LITE handheld announced with SteamOS Linux
11 Jan 2024 at 11:28 am UTC

Quoting: japzoneAlso, if Valve is charging little to nothing to use the OS, what benefit would there be to Ayaneo to spend money on their own OS? The point of skipping Windows is that it saves money and allows a more tailored hand-held experience. If they can get both without spending a bunch of money on Linux OS maintainers, that'd be a huge win.
"More tailored handheld experience" and "Windows" are not compatible on the same phrase ;)

If you look at the Rog Ally and Lenovo Legion, you'll see that they have to pay developer hours to have their in-house hardware management and game central apps to emulate what SteamOS does natively on that matter, and would require only a few changes to make it work in other hardware.

And at the end of the day, after closing those apps you will still have the Windows Desktop experience, where things on screen will be little and you have to configure further, or gamepads will not be available for you to input basic commands like suspend, shutdown, etc...

So yeah, they still have to develop stuff if they are OEM'ing Windows.

Core Keeper 1.0 planned for Summer 2024, dev says it's had 2 million downloads
18 Nov 2023 at 12:03 pm UTC Likes: 2

Core Keeper is such a great game. Some Terraria+Stardew Valley vibes, challenging bosses and really fun if you like that kind of game.

It only lacks optimization. Damn, even with a 3070ti(Laptop) the game will be stuck on 50FPS no matter if you set the graphics quality to High or low.

EmulationStation Desktop Edition v2.2 brings huge additions

Quoting: PenglingRetroDECK is my preference, too. If I remember right, it's forked from 351ELEC, which was a custom firmware for the Anbernic RG351MP emulation handheld, so it does the one thing it's supposed to, and does it very well indeed - EmulationStation is the cherry on top.
Which is also a Fork from EmuELEC, a really interesting technology for retrogaming in TV Boxes. Im using on a S922 based tv box here an I'm able to emulate Dreamcast and N64 with great performance.

Valheim testing a Unity upgrade with lots of optimizations
28 Oct 2023 at 3:01 pm UTC

Valheim has an annoying bug that when playing in any higher than 1080p resolution, it produces some weird inventory location errors, and mouse is misaligned with the inventory. Worst case mouse will not be able to reach your inventory because it expects your pointer to be way inside the right border of the monitor.

Forcing Proton solves this, and on Steam Deck which has a lower resolution it doesn't reproduce...

Mortisomem is a horror-adventure based in early 20th century Brazil
27 Oct 2023 at 10:09 am UTC Likes: 1

Little fact: "Mortisomem" is an entity name that does not exists in Brazilian Portuguese folklore.

Although, it looks like it is using the constituent sufix "-somem" which means Were(from werewolf). pt_BR version of Werewolf is Lobisomem (Lobi = Lupus = Wolf + somem = were = "man in a shape of").

Morti means "death bringer" in latin, so it is likely that Mortisomem means "The deathbringer man" or "the personification of death"...

HOT WHEELS UNLEASHED 2 - Turbocharged is good fun with some issues on Steam Deck / Linux

This game has exact the same feeling as Battlefield 3 and 4.

I've preordered BF3 when I was playing BF Bad Company 2, and right after they released the first BF3 expansion(Back to Karkand) during the first 2 FRIGGING MONTHS of game life(BF3 was released in October 2011 and the expansion on December of the same year), there was BF4 advertising INSIDE BF3 game loading screens. Outrageous.

BF3 was a good game, and BF4 felt like a poor rewrite and a product to take money from players, and a lot of them got the BF4 preorder as well. I bought BF4 only a year after it's launch with some heavy discounts and all DLCs included.

One may argue "ah, but you could kept playing BF3" but at that time, everyone migrated to BF4, providers stopped hosting BF3 servers and the game while still fun was pretty much dead because of herd effect...

Proton Experimental updated for Tony Hawk's, Halo Infinite, Resident Evil 4 Separate Ways
12 Oct 2023 at 10:53 am UTC

Played some online THPS 1+2 on Deck and Laptop and now it is just a Platinum title on SteamDB.

It's a shame that the servers and the way you create parties on this game is just garbage. Other than that, Trick Attack and Graffiti modes on this game are cool...
