Quoting: StoneColdSpiderI played the Nintendo 64 version of RE2 last week and REALLY liked it...... Thought it was really great....... Besides the annoying kid......

Ive started RE3: Nemesis and im not liking it that much at all..... I can tell its been rushed and the writing is very sub par so far.......

I will get to Code Veronica X on the GameCube one day.......
I know what you mean by the annoying kid but at least it wasn't too bad in the Remake version since it was more tolerable and some of the kids part weren't too long to overstay its welcome :)

I only finished RE3 once on the PS1 and it was pretty forgettable since I couldn't even remember much of what was going on at the time. I also played the Remake version of it as well but it didn't change my opinion much about the game, sadly.

As for Code Veronica, you could emulate the Dreamcast version of the game, which is the original one before it came over to the PS2 and Gamecube later on.

Quoting: StoneColdSpiderAs for me..... Through the power of emulation...... Ive been playing through the Resident Evil games for the first time ever...... Ive been going into the games almost completely blind besides knowing small things thanks to well known memes...... Jill Sandwich...... And I have been really enjoying the first two games so far...... Im going to start Resident Evil 3 Nemesis soon......
I like Resident Evil 2 a lot, especially when it was first released on PS1 back in 1998. I loved the way they designed the game where you can start with either characters and eventually, their stories converge at the end. I also played the remake version and I like it just as much as the original because it's setup the same way but with additional parts that wouldn't have been possible back then.

Another good one I like is Resident Evil Code Veronica since it's just like the ones you're playing right now and at first, I didn't like it when I played that on the PS2 but after revisiting it again years later, it started to grow on me to the point that I enjoyed it.

Nintendo goes after Switch emulator yuzu in new lawsuit
29 Feb 2024 at 3:27 am UTC

Quoting: elmapulif only we had an publisher that made alternative games to nintendo games, capable of outputing the same ammount of games as then, with games that are different enough to no count as plagiarism, but similliar enough to compete for the same audience while at the same time, they could make better games than nintendo, as well as make high quality original games instead of just imitations, if we had all of this with an company that was actually ethical...
nintendo would be forced to improve.

meanwhile, we have things like this...
Sega would've been the closest one to this but with the mismanagement that they had to dealt with at the time and the fact that they are a third party publisher is such a shame because they had some really good IPs.

Nintendo goes after Switch emulator yuzu in new lawsuit

Quoting: GuestThis is why I never have and never will buy anything from Nintendo. Japanese litigious approaches are downright repulsive.
I'm glad I don't care for their games anymore for over past two decades and yuzu doesn't scratch my itch to play anything they make on the Switch. Besides, I'm happy with the Steam Deck because I can play a lot of non-Nintendo games they get but better and I actually buy the games I want to play at better prices versus the eShop. At least I know I can continue to access them on a PC or elsewhere without having it get stuck on the Steam Deck if it ever dies or I sell it for whatever reason (not that I would) versus having the game get stuck on a Switch with no guarantee if the newer systems they make in the future will play them.

Quoting: neon_soaked_chryssalidHmm, Nintendo being Nintendo again. Somehow nobody that I know IRL can understand why I will not purchase any products from them.
Don't worry, it's better if they don't know than to know. At least the people I know IRL understand and somewhat agree with me why I don't like Nintendo.

Slimbook reveal the AMD powered Excalibur laptop and KDE Plasma 6 Slimbook

Quoting: Purple Library GuyI like the slim aluminum schtick, I like that it's got AMD graphics . . . it seems pretty nice. But I'm in Canada, so.
I was interested in the laptop and taking a look at it from their store. Since you'll have to add a power adapter for use in the US (and probably Canada) for about $19CAD, if you stick to the basic model that gives you 16GB of non-soldered RAM and 250GB NVME PCI-e 4.0 SSD, it'll end up costing you over $1500CAD (shipping was added to the price of the laptop itself, which is about $1475CAD). However, since I live in the US, it would cost about $1100 + $50 shipping + sales tax and that would push it past $1200.

Overall, it looks likes a good laptop to get since it's nice to see an AMD powered one over the usual Intel/Nvidia combo you see pretty often.

Steam users redeemed over $80 million in physical wallet cards in December 2023

I can say that I'm one of those $80 million physical Steam Wallet card purchasers and I wouldn't be surprised if some of that is attributed to those that can't buy a Steam Deck using credit card, Paypal or other means.

It's nice that you can buy something like a Steam Deck with Steam Wallet digital and physical cards

Quoting: DrNickSounds like my Steam Deck is gonna have an easier time running some games.
I can't wait to see these changes get added to the Linux kernel and SteamOS because if these numbers are any indication, it sounds like we're in for some awesome gaming experiences on the Steam Deck

Team Fortress: Source 2 fan project gets a DMCA from Valve

Reading the article kind of reminds me of the Torchlight situation, where a Chinese developer took assets from the game and try to make it their own version.

Linux use on Steam ends 2023 with a multi-year high (thanks Steam Deck)
3 Jan 2024 at 11:58 pm UTC

Quoting: Mountain ManNow we just need to convince everyone using a Steam Deck to ditch Windows and install Linux on their desktops because they're already using Linux.
If Linux could support 100% of the games on Steam, why use Windows, right? Unfortunately, there are some software that doesn't play nice with Linux like those anticheat software from Activision, EA, Epic and many others and if they could allow it to run on Linux, then ditching Windows would be a no brainer.

Here's the top Steam Deck games for December 2023

Quoting: CatKillerAt some point I'll probably try Witcher 3, but my copy was a GOG key that came with my GPU so I'd need to set up Heroic and stuff, and I haven't really been arsed.
If you're using the Steam Deck to play the Witcher 3 from GOG, you could just setup the installer as a Non-Steam Game and after it's done installing, you look for the folder that was created from the installation and update the Target and Start In to point to it. Afterwards, update the artwork from SteamGridDB and you should be good to go if you don't plan on going the Heroic route.

What have you been playing recently on either Steam Deck or desktop Linux?
Since I have too many games in my backlog for the Steam Deck and I only own Baldur's Gate 3 from this list, I'd say I'm playing a lot of Metroidvanias like The Last Faith, Blasphemous 2, Sundered and Ebenezer and the Invisible World. After that, I'll probably look around to see what other games interest me before I continue to add to my backlog.
