For those who are having problems trying to run Starship with the Windows build on Linux, you'll need DirectX 11 since without it, it'll crash. These are the steps that I took to get it to run:

1. Download the zip file for the Windows build from the Github project.
2. Provide a legal copy of the ROM for the game and make sure it matches the SHA-1 from the Github project. Also, make sure it's using the .z64 format.
3. Unzip the file from step #1 and copy/move the ROM file from step #2 into the unzipped folder.
4. On Steam, add the generate_otr.bat as a non-Steam game.
5. Before clicking on the Play button, make sure that the Proton version is set to Proton Experimental. Click the Play button to let the batch file do it's thing.
6. Once it's done, remove the non-Steam game you added in step #4 and add the Starship.exe file as a non-Steam game. Before preceding to the next step, you'll need to make sure you have Protontricks installed on your system because you'll be adding the necessary DirectX 11 files to make Starship run correctly.
7. On Protontricks, make sure you do these steps:
- Click on the Starship.exe from the list and click the OK button.
- Click on Select the default wineprefix if it's not already selected and click the OK button
- Click on Install a Windows DLL or component and click the OK button.
- Click on the following options from the list: d3dcompiler_43, d3dcompiler_47, d3dx11_43, d3dx9_43, d3dx9, d3dx10 and click the OK button.
- Now, the window will close but don't worry because it'll come back when it's done installing the necessary files.
- Once the window comes back, you can close the program.
8. Return to Steam and before clicking on the Play button for Starship, make sure that the Proton version is set to Proton Experimental. Click the Play button and hope for the best

If you don't want to go through all of that, you can use Lutris like legluondunet mentioned.

Humble bring back the excellent Beamdog & Owlcat RPG Bundle for a limited time

I would've jumped into this bundle if I didn't already have most of the games on the list. The only one I really wanted at the time this bundle was available was Rogue Trader but ended up getting the Fanatical Movember bundle instead for $11.99 that included it and other games that I didn't have in my Steam library.

Quoting: AllocWas waiting for the day to come. Unfortunately IMHO they missed two important opportunities for the 500: Regular HDMI sockets and - even more important these days - a fully featured USB-C that not only powers the RPi but also provides DP alt mode and USB host functions so you can really just plug this thing into a screen / USB-dock with just one cable and everything would be ready.
Still nice to see they do refresh the RPi x00 series from time to time so maybe a 600 will do that :)
They stopped using the regular HDMI socket since the Raspberry Pi 3 models and it doesn't look like they'll bring it back anytime soon. However, I do agree with you on the fully featured USB-C.

Quoting: EriThis is the F2P MP game that supposedly has a remaster of the original Black Hawk Down campaign inside, right? I wonder how are they going to monetize that or if it will be playable during the MP open beta. I have fond memories of the PS2 game.
Yes, that's correct and this is probably why they delisted the original Black Hawk Down earlier this year.

You can win a Steam Deck, Meta Quest 3 VR Headset and more with Fanatical

I'm guilty of paying for these every time it comes up and sometimes, I get games like Doom 2016 and Sniper Elite 5 for every junk game they give.

Valve's new branding guidelines hint at Steam Deck's SteamOS for more devices
4 Dec 2024 at 4:46 pm UTC

Quoting: Leahi84Do you think SteamOS would ever be a viable desktop distro?
If they continue the immutable OS route, then it won't be a viable desktop distro. If that's what you want, then you're more likely to look into something like Bazzite, ChimeraOS, Nobara, CachyOS or any other SteamOS like distro.

Intel announced their Arc B-Series GPUs and XeSS 2, the day after CEO Pat Gelsinger retires
4 Dec 2024 at 2:13 pm UTC

Quoting: Phlebiac"Retired" is the PR spin; the board forced him out. It's also been said these are likely the last discrete GPUs, as Intel is looking to cut costs, and it will take a lot more investment for them to actually compete.
I might be wrong but didn't Intel lay off some people recently in the Battlemage and GPU division?

Blizzard are delisting Warcraft I and II from GOG, so GOG adds a special discount and will keep them updated

Quoting: ShabbyXSomeone should write an open-source engine for warcraft 1 and 2!
Funny you said that because ElamanOpiskelija just mentioned about a C&D by Blizzard to an open source Warcraft project.

LIGHT OF MOTIRAM takes Horizon Zero Dawn and turns it into a co-op survival game

This game looks like a bunch of assets and mechanics ripped from Horizon and if that's the case, then this game might not be there for long if and when Sony sue them for it.
