For the past few years I've been considering an upgrade, but there's just no point with the quality and quantity of AAA releases, most of which I'm not interested in at the end of the day. So, the grand total of 3 games I'd want to play from the past few years that don't run well for me, and the few more that may or may not appear up until then I'll likely enjoy on a Steam Deck 2 in a few years, and that'll be that.
I'm not exactly complaining, but it is funny how the target audience for your high-end GPU is not necessarily what you'd call a hardcore gamer, but really the casual crowd who wants their FCs and GTAs, and CoDs to... just run out of the box.
I'll be in the corner over there playing some more Dwarf Fortress all day everyday on my 20W device. Weird times.

Unless you want that pre-order materia, that is. Major dick move to counterbalance that part 1 discount.

Quoting: kuhpunktSame here. Early buyers get fleeced, always. I guess 'early' in the case of FF7R means all buyers not getting all of them when the third one is on a deep discount.Quoting: suchBut I already have the first one.Quoting: kuhpunktI hope they will fix the bundle price, lol. They lowered the price on the first one, so that's your discount.
If you already own Remake, you should get a bigger discount...

Quoting: PhlebiacI'm a little confused / didn't follow what was happening very well. Do I have it right that they are remastering the original Final Fantasy VII, but it's getting split into 3 parts, and this is the second of the three? Or is the remaster complete, and this is a new continuation of the original story? It re-tells (and expands etc.) the original. It won't be complete until the final, 3rd, game, but it's already much longer than the original FF7. If you fly through FF7 in 40 hours you'll probably be spending longer just in Part 1 alone, but even if some people argue it's bloat there are legitimate reasons for at least part of this as well (text boxes in THAT ye olde jrpg style vs proper voiced dialogue, character work you need with increases overall fidelity, and all that entails).
I know the original VII was highly regarded as one of the best (never played much of the series except for X myself; too many games and too little time), but it seems like they are milking it quite a bit?

Quoting: JarmerInteresting that CDPR partnered with a 3rd party to do this update. I wonder why. Maybe they're helping them with other games right now and it was something to fill a short downtime?I don't think the concept of downtime exists in outsourcing. I'd guess cheap labour is somewhere on the list of reasons, if not chief among them.
Blizzard are delisting Warcraft I and II from GOG, so GOG adds a special discount and will keep them updated

Quoting: Linux_RocksThe remasters on Battle.net come with the originals too. So I'm not surprised that they're doing this. It's a shame, but it was a matter of when it'd happen. Are they bundling in the DOS originals? Because if they're not those remasters do not feature the originals. The switching is limited, and what it does feature of the originals is fairly mangled.

Somehow, Blizzard managed the not unimpressive feat of removing the original game to replace it with their incompetent "remaster" (what's a tall pixel?) yet again, but this time cross-platform. Bravo?
Avowed from Obsidian gets a release date, and pre-orders with earlier access if you pay £80

Avowed is a more expensive project that's going to get at least partially buried from the traditional sales point of view (which is what gets widely reported), because of questionable Xbox business strategy. And we won't really even know how badly it'll get hurt by that, either.
Hard pass for me. Game looks fairly mediocre, and it's priced like it's the hottest thing since sliced bread. Good luck with that.

Quoting: kaimanIf all goes well, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 comes out February 11th, so I don't think I'll need another large RPG in that time period. But will be interesting to see how Avowed turns out compared to the more old-school Pillars of Eternity games. It doesn't really compare, though. PoE was cheaper to make, and a matter of prestige/sign of studio health. In a way, budget was secondary to getting it out the door in decent shape.

There's already been a longer gap between these two games than there was between Monkey 3 and AVS at that point. Time is scary.
Croc Legend of the Gobbos remaster to release in December

Now, if the remaster is good, that'll be worth it to me, but my point is that it's probably not a package attractive enough to convert people. As someone who would enjoy a proper Croc 3 I find that to be a shame - if it pans out the way I fear it might.
Fingers crossed we're entering the Age of Croc, genuinely.

Quoting: GuestI already own a copy of the original game. I'd imagine a not insignificant number of people who have been aware of Croc's existence do. It's good it's there - let there be no misunderstanding on this point.Quoting: suchAs much as I have genuine, unironic sympathy that goes beyond nostalgia for this game... TR1-3 with all the side/expansion stuff is the same price, so this places Croc... a little bit outside of that impulse buy sweet spot I feel they should've targeted. Especially on GOG, i.e. a more niche platform. I appreciate when someone values their work, but...It might not be enough for you to find it worth it, but for that $29.99 it comes with a copy of the original game, as mentioned on the store page.
Let's hope that GOG exclusivity money funds Croc 2, at least. Maybe it already has.
