Atari acquires Transport Tycoon from Chris Sawyer

That said, aggressive representation is probably the sole reason Sawyer is able to earn a living off RCT still, after all those years. Here's hoping it doesn't get out of hand for the wrong/stupid reasons.

Quoting: Leahi84Atari bought the publishing rights to RCT this year, apparently. Sawyer's alleged stance quoted here and there seems more lawyer than human (and indeed appears to be signed to that effect), so I hope that's not his actual (informed) take on the situation. Extremely dispiriting and about as out of touch if that were the case.Quoting: soulsourceI hope this isn't bad news for the OpenTTD project.I don't believe it'll be a problem. They've known about OpenRCT2 and OpenTTD for awhile now and not had a problem.
The real problem is if Sawyer ever takes the rights to RCT away from Atari. Apparently he's extremely hostile to OpenRCT2's existence and will go after it if Atari ever loses the rights. So it's in everybody's best interest that Atari keeps the rights, or is able to outright purchase the rest of his games from him.

They had a demo out some months back.
It was... very bad outsider art, pains me to say.

Quoting: pbYeah, GOG is a bookstore by that logic.Quoting: JustinWoodI kind of thought GoG was supposed to be the old game library of Alexandria, at least to some extent.I'm not familiar with these times but wasn't the library free to access? So, something more like this [External Link]?

We'll see in about a year :)

Quoting: Liam DaweI'm thinking it could perhaps be less a matter of funding and more a case of a very specific deal GOG negotiated to maybe drag a game out of ownership hell and into their store. Some games just took very long to get to Steam (Emperor of the Fading Suns - still not there yet, but there's plans), some perhaps no one bothered to put on Steam, because who cares, and Steam is essentially a black hole if you're not promoting your product sufficiently.Quoting: suchIt'll get to Steam eventually. GOG doesn't have the coffers for anything other than a timed exclusive, and not a long one at that, I'm betting. Not necessarily if GOG have done any kind of funding on it, plus GOG have various other classics not available elsewhere.

Quoting: dpanterThey still aren't getting my money, ever. Feckless rancid scumbag company. It would've been easy, if it weren't for Anno. Overpriced cosmetic dlc aside, Ubisoft seems to be leaving that team to their own devices. Hopefully it'll stay that way.
SteamOS 3.6.18 Beta released, still not quite the true end of the line

Unless it's already possible and I missed it, here's a SteamOS feature I'd love: staying on the previous major stable release until the new stable release actually becomes stable. An additional 'luddite' branch on a 6 month delay would be perfect.
There has not been a single major stable update in quite a while that HASN'T caused at least some issues for me.

Even though I dislike some timed sections with the TR tank controls I think it really is a skill issue.

Quoting: SeegrasThe originals have horrible controls. Basically unplayable because of that. So if they fixed that, it's a reason to get them.I find these games more difficult to play with the new, reworked controls as Tomb Raider was very deliberately built around its (also deliberate) tank controls, down to the distance of the hops, calculating the running jumps and such.

Kind Words 2 (lofi city pop) is a sweet game about writing letters to real people

I've seen people describe Kind Words as sweet, but to me it was gut-wrenching and just overwhelming most of the time. An idea that seems perfectly fine on paper, but doesn't survive contact with reality.
The number of dreadful, horrible, traumatising things and experiences you're reading in that game completely eclipsed the - I think intended to be the primary if not sole takeaway - feeling of "aww, that's a nice note".
