Baldur's Gate 3 wins Game of the Year in the 2023 Steam Awards

Quoting: blindcoderAbsolutely, Starfield has pretty much zero innovation. It's a decent game, but innovation is not part of it, at all.
This nomination has to be a troll, honestly. It's just too perfect.

Same goes for RDR2. People have been complaining Rockstar abandoned the game for years.

Songs of Conquest now Steam Deck Verified with full gamepad support

Steam Deck support is likely just controller support and maybe interface scaling. Some games have presets specifically designed for that APU, but that's probably unnecessary here, hah.

Back when I played it what bothered me wasn't the controls, though - it was the forced writing. So bland and uninteresting (with a smidge of ESL) it was downright unreadable. Really made me miss the old Might & Magic flavour (just like the new MM and HoMM games).

Valve announced more Steam sales and events for 2024

These new sales are healthier for the industry (no flash sales, lower discounts etc) and for the buyers, but coupled with the fact that pretty much everything is on sale every 2 months anyway... it's much less of an event these days. Back in the olden days a major Steam sale also meant Steam was down for the first hour as people hammered the servers en masse - that's firmly in the past considering if I miss a sale come February it'll be discounted again, so it's a case of "meh, I'll get around to it." The discount might be deeper on a regular sale anyway.

Now, if anyone is new to Steam, and especially if they're used to consoles a Steam sale is pretty much like that cocaine scene from Scarface. Nice to read posts reminding me of that from time to time, hah.

Death Stranding from Kojima is getting the live-action movie treatment

Quoting: GlitteryThey really have to write a good script for that.
Kojima won't let that happen, no worries there.

SIGIL II from John Romero out now for classic DOOM

Quoting: officerniceI have not bought Sigil II yet, but I really enjoyed the first one. It can also be played with Brutal Doom, which is highly recommended.
Brutal Doom is good to blow off some Steam, but I wouldn't recommend it over DOOM. It's goofy excess vs elegance in design.
Each to their own. I've never really gone back to vanilla. :)
Yeah, and I always get bored with Brutal within minutes :)

Waiting for the inevitable Wadsmoosh update :)

Also, there's a DOOM2 megawad in the works, so I think I know what I'll be doing in a year.

Quoting: GetBeanedIt looks lovely. I'm really pleased with how No Man's Sky turned out, but I've always been more of a fantasy guy than sci fi.

Shame about alt-J though lol. Explosions in the Sky did a wonderful job on the NMS ost.
Did you mean 65daysofstatic (and not quite even then), or did I miss something?
Oops, yeah, got my post rock bands mixed up.
If it's another collaboration that trailer song might be it and we'll be getting ambient for gameplay. I like the idea of devs collaborating with different bands this way, honestly.

Diablo IV free to play on Steam until Tuesday

Still not worth it. I didn't expect much of D4 to begin with, but it still managed to disappoint.
