My top Tower Defence games for Linux

Great article!

There are tons of TD games on Linux.

I love them but I'm not that skilled.

I remember Fieldrunners was just too hard for me. :D

Intel announce a new CPU with AMD graphics and HBM2 memory
7 Nov 2017 at 6:21 am UTC

Quoting: 14AMD has been winning the nice "package" setup for a while. Think about consoles. I think all of them are AMD this generation and most of last gen were AMD as well.
Nintendo Switch?

Intel announce a new CPU with AMD graphics and HBM2 memory

Quoting: EikeNow this is wild and crazy. Just when AMD attacked them on the CPU front...
Indeed. I wonder what lead them to this deal.
Ofc, this will get AMD some money but waters out the
significant advance when it comes CPU+GPU package domain.
Doesn't look clever to me but I hope they know what they're doing.

Slapping minions, defeating heroes and being delightfully evil in Dungeons 3, my thoughts

1/2 OT.

Does a rather precise DK clone exist with 2D graphics?

Form what I remember there "were" several OSS attempts for reverse engineering the DK engine or creating clones.

However, they seem to be mostly stuck already at (3D) engine level.
Well, granted that this is a difficult task and very time consuming chances are high for failure.

I totally love the DK game mechanics and gameplay, so I wouldn't mind a 2D game which should be significantly simpler to develop. Does something like this exist? Couldn't find anything like that.

Hell Warders, a mixture of action and tower defense that may come to Linux

Quoting: TiedemannNice. Played the fist Dungeon Defenders a lot and loved the action/TD combo so I'll def pick this up if when/if we get it.
If you like the Action/TD combo, you should definitely check out Sanctum 2 [External Link].
I did some time ago but it was buggy as hell so I forgot all about it. Will try again :)
Let icculus know.

IIRC, he did the port.

Death Trash, a grim post-apocalyptic role-playing game that will have Linux support

Quoting: MKN-dev-LINUXNow this title looks really cool. I hope they don't promise, then pull, then promise, then hold (hint hint) the Linux version.
*they*

The dev crew is *ONE* person, afaik. :D

What have you been playing and what do you think?

Currently I'm addicted to Cuphead.
And damn is it good!

Honestly, best game I played in a very long time.
Extremely challenging, but so well and lovely executed.
Yet so different. It's basically one boss fight after another.

Unfortunately it's Windows and Xbox-only thus far.
I saw reports running it successfully on Wine.
But I'm pragmatically use Windows in this case (yeah, not a Wine fan).

It's a Unity game and devs said they'll look into bringing it to Mac and Linux.
Their exclusivity contracts only cover consoles.

So watch out should it be released on Linux.

One of Valve's choices of games to highlight for Steam Machines is more than a little silly

Actually, we all knew it.
SteamOS/Linux just saw the light of day to put some pressure on MS.
It's still there, in a more or less passionless state, ready to be (kind of) revived when needed.

If you want it from someone who has worked for and with Valve and whom I consider a very clever mind:
