Played a bit of Hellpoint since I got it through the Humble Choice. Seems decent enough.
Otherwise a round of Jupiter Hell is always fun.
Hmm... coincidence that both have "hell" in their name? ;)

If I remember correctly this actually uses a modified version of the open-source Doom3 engine.

Quoting: omer666I really hope some day they will get to the beta stage, it's such a great effort. Not sure if joking or not. It has been what other projects call "stable" for years. It's just bad marketing :(
Retro game streaming service Piepacker is quite impressive and works well on Linux

But streaming highly input-latency sensitive games is probably a bad idea.

Quoting: GuestSeems not that bad here, I guess you are pretty far away from their server?Quoting: JuliusYou can actually run something like that yourself with this awesome Retroarch based open-source software: https://github.com/giongto35/cloud-game [External Link]Nice, thanks for sharing.

People always assume emulation is about piracy, when in fact usually these commercial services are often just about re-selling you stuff you already own.
Edit: and for games that where never licensed in the first place it is a legal grey-area anyways.

Quoting: TuxeeMe? I am not the developer of that. But there are plenty of people with existing libraries of retro game cartridges for SNES etc. that are perfectly legal to play with this.Quoting: JuliusYou can actually run something like that yourself with this awesome Retroarch based open-source software: https://github.com/giongto35/cloud-game [External Link]And you have all the games bought previously? I am pretty sure, that the majority of my MAME games are not licensed. (Though some are.)

Tesla has been teasing their in vehicle infotainment system as a super fast console for a while now. I think it is some beefed-up ARM+Nvidia system? Anyways, cool that they are using Linux for it.

Hints appear of Valve making a handheld Steam "SteamPal" Neptune console

The second one would be the death sentence for this. Steam users expect to use their existing library. It running Linux will be bad enough from that perspective (but doable with Proton), but ARM would be a total non-starter. Your argument makes a bit of sense, but I think under those circumstances (i.e. much much smaller usable game library) people will stick to existing handhelds like the Switch.

Quoting: BielFPsSince I already said some of my thoughts in another similar topic, I would only suggest two things if I could:I agree on the first one, and that was for example done in the GPDWin2 AFAIK.
1 - Use of ssd nvme m.2 as storage disk (no sd cards or internal static memory)
2 - Use of arm architeture, so developers would need to recompile (and test) their games before selling and customers would have a clear distinction of which game they can run (not counting streaming) on it, instead of complaint that their cyberbattlefieldofdutybattlegroundsredemptionV doesn't work as it works on their PCs.

I hate how similar are tough, though, thought, through, thorough and throughout. It's one of the few difficulties of english

But maybe they will do some magic to emulate a steam controller with a touchscreen (while turning the screen itself off) or maybe it will be some sort of clam-shell device.

Quoting: grigiOf course, we can only hope it's BOTH a new steam controller AND a portable gaming unit.As much as I love my two Steam controllers, I think the SteamBoy/SmachZ prototypes have shown that the large touchpads of the steam controller do not work well in combination with a build in screen.
