Search engines are getting worse, so OpenWebSearch funded by the European Union want to fix it

So yes, clearly it can happen because it is happening. Although not from government, except probably in China. And not to suppress the right--to the contrary, all the social media and search algorithms seem to systematically promote right wing viewpoints, particularly the far right because their stridency promotes "engagement" (and in one certain case, because the owner is a fascist).Well, at least I have the comfort of knowing that the far-right will speed up the extinction of the human race with their climate change denial so that they'll destroy themselves and not get to rule things for too terribly long.
Meanwhile, if this EU initiative does things that bias the results returned by search engines that use it, in a way that's unacceptable to search engine companies' right wing CEOs, then I guess they won't use it. So I don't think you need to worry too much about right wing viewpoints ceasing to have a massive advantage.

About time. Kinda ridiculous that it's taken this long. But better late than never.

I can never imagine in a million years losing my cellphone or having it be stolen. I've been using cell phones since the very early 2000s when all they could do was play that snake game. It's never, ever happened once to me in all that time. I'm too protective of it to ever have that happen.

I hope this will be fun for people who like this sort of thing, but it's a bit too close to home for me as I live in an area prone to wildfires.

It's so frustrating that this game goes relatively ignored. IMO, it is the true successor to the Wipeout games and is far better than any of the other anti-gravity racing games I've played.

Man, they really are desperate aren't they? I don't think this will ultimately work either, so I guess they will be out of options after this other than maybe trying to sue Valve. I will never use the epic game store.

I'll stick to the original due to its modding support. Super excited for Skyblivion. Hopefully Elder Scrolls 6 goes back to the creation engine. There's no way people will be able to mod this to any degree like they do for the other games, if at all.
