So when is Nvidia going to finally be investigated for anti-trust violations? Their market dominance is ridiculous.

AMD reveal Ryzen 9950X3D and 9900X3D, 'Fire Range' HX3D for mobile, Ryzen Z2 for handheld PCs, RDNA 4 and FSR 4

Of course, right after I order an expensive custom computer from a boutique builder with a Ryzen 7 9800X3D and a 4080 Super. My new build that I won't even receive for another 2 or so weeks is now out of date already. Oh well, at least it will be fully repairable and upgradable in the future to newer stuff, unlike my old computer that died last month, which was a godawful HP Omen that was proprietary garbage that I was given during the pandemic.

I CANNOT WAIT for this ai bubble to burst
Same. For the sake of the planet if for nothing else. Though I shudder to fear what the next thing they'd come up with is, in addition to more massive layoffs when the bubble bursts.

Stardew Valley hits over 41 million sales with millions sold during 2024

I never got into Stardew Valley. I much prefer the Story of Seasons and Rune Factory games to this.

Sony buy up KADOKAWA shares to become largest shareholder of the FromSoftware parent company

So I guess they will be making all of the games PS exclusives now... Too bad this isn't taking place in the US, it would have likely gotten an anti-trust investigation.

Late stage capitalism strikes again. If we survive not too much longer enough as a species then we will inevitably end up with like 2 or 3 mega corporations who own everything.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from GamingOnLinux

Happy new years don't exist anymore, IMO. Nothing good to look forward to in the next year, at least where I live in the US. Just another new level of utter hellscape starting next month. It's going to be awful.

The holidays are extremely stressful to me. Probably the only good thing about January is that they will be over.

Turok: Origins announced and it's now a third-person shooter with co-op

Quoting: kuhpunktI don't know. Turok is such a weird franchise. Why did it ever get "big"?

It was one of the first FPS I can remember on the N64... but eh.
It didn't get big. The game's were considered "cult classics". I don't think this will sell well overall.

Nobody asked for this, and making everything 3rd person is really getting boring. They should have just left this franchise alone. I will be very surprised if this isn't mediocre

Hopefully there will be a something like this for Unreal Tournament 2004 (My favorite) at some point. Unreal Tournament 3 however, I'm not sure if I'd care or not because It was just okay and a disappointment following UT2k4. I don't think it sold very well either.

Arch Linux Package Management (ALPM) gets funding from Sovereign Tech Agency

Quoting: LoudTechie
Quoting: ArehandoroThis is the only thing that comes to mind each time I read Sovereign:

It's EU politico speak.
I think it's best translated to American with "America first!"
If European governments try to rid themselves of dependencies of goods and services from parties, whose reliability and stability they're too polite to question they call it a push for sovereignty.
France pleads for an EU army for this reason.
Germany maintains a pretty big military industry for it.
The EU is importing lots extra expensive gass from the USA for this reason.
Its why the EU sometimes tries to get an internal mining industry(until they discover that the reason they don't have one is, because they care about human rights, environmental protections, etc)

Most of the time it means moving away from USA provided goods and services, but not always.
Can't say I blame them. I'd be trying to move away from dependency on the US too, especially with that POS Trump assuming office next month. He's extremely hostile towards Europe, so If I were them I'd cut ties as quickly as possible.

Do you think SteamOS would ever be a viable desktop distro?
