Sunday Mag: Linux gaming news odds and ends and a quick look at what’s on sale

Jupiter Hell! I had forgotten about that game, wishlisting it at once.

As for what I've been playing it's been "Vigilantes" all the way. Originally, I intended to wait but then I decided to give "Pathfinder" some extra bug-fixing time, so after I finished "Tesla Effect" I dove right in.

Very nice and quite addictive, as you build up a team and fight crime in the big city. You develop your "lair" for various bonuses and homemade equipment and then go out on raids and surveilliance missions in your hunt for the "Big Bosses".

The Steam Play whitelist just had a large update including The Witness and Wolfenstein: The Old Blood

Very nice! Unfortunaty, there's not any title that I am keeping an eye out for yet. Still, I guess it's only a matter of time and there's no hurry at present for more games than I currently have lined up in my library.

Speaking of which..."SHADOW WARRIOR 2" is currently free on GOG, if you log in to your account there. I would have much prefered to have it on steam and test it out with Proton but it's still a very nice thing from GOG.

I actually feel a bit embarrased, that I haven´t bought this yet. Because while the theme of the game as well as the gameplay itself seems very interesting, the graphics look so very simple and rudimentary.

I´m not normally into graphics and I usually couldn´t give a damn about tesselation, shaders, bumpmapping and so on. However, that doesn´t mean that I don´t want *any* eyecandy at all, to have the graphics simply be utilitarian and absolutely nothing else.

Guess I am a bit superficial at heart. :(

Life is Strange 2 confirmed to be coming to Linux in 2019 from Feral Interactive

2019 sounds great to me, no messing about with single episodes and months in between each one. Also, there´s so much else going on this autumn that there´s zero risk of running out of things to play. :D

Turn-based tactical RPG 'Vigilantes' to leave Early Access on Thursday
1 Oct 2018 at 10:20 am UTC

I haven´t tried playing this since the early days of early access either. I´ll give it a go as soon as it´s released but then I think it´ll have to join the backlog, since I have at least 2 and maybe more titles that I want to play through first.

The concept does sound interesting though, a deadly (I assume) "Batman character" that fights in turnbased combat.

The Sunday Mag - a look at some Linux stuff on sale and other odds and ends

Just started to play "TESLA EFFECT" using Proton. Other than the fact that you had to download "mscorefonts" and then copy "arial.ttf" to the game directory, the game itself appears to run great.

I have everything on MAX settings and haven´t noticed any framedrops or other problems at all. The game has a "Very Positive" rating on steam and based on my previous experience with Tex Murphy P.I. I know I´m in for a real treat. :)

(I was planning to begin with "Pathfinder: Kingmaker" but given all the bugs that have them releasing hotfixes almost every day and the fact that a larger patch is scheduled for the end of next week, I decided to wait a bit)

BATTLETECH gets an opt-in Linux beta on Steam

Nice to see some progress at last. Although, I actually hope it takes a month or two more until the full release. I just have too damn much to play right now and I feel I´m buying 3 new games for every single game I finish. :dizzy::D

The RPG 'Pathfinder: Kingmaker' is out with critical bugs in the Linux version

There was a small 2.2 mb update on steam. My saved game still crashes on loading, so I guess no fix for that yet.

Lucky, I only played for a few minutes after character creation then.

I also had an issue there when trying to write my characters name, every letter i pressed was doubled on the screen. Otherwise, the game looked great and all the various races/classes/skills/feats were quite interesting to someone like me, who likes to fiddle with lots of detail in character building.

I´ll be moving over to "PoE2: Seeker, Slayer, Survivor" until they get things patched.

Feral Interactive are teasing ANOTHER new Linux port

Quoting: F.Ultra
Quoting: Patola
Quoting: jensAs far as I know they announce as soon as they are allowed to. You know what an NDA is?
I will tell you what it is not: it is no excuse from criticisms.
Then you should criticize the one forcing Feral to sign the NDA and not Feral who have no choice what so ever in the matter (other than not signing a NDA and thus not porting the game either).
I must confess to a little bit of confusion here.

Does anyone actually *know* that there is one or several existing NDA(s) that prevents Feral from saying which linux ports they are currently working on, forcing them to resort to hints and vague suggestions. Or is this just general speculation, that such NDA(s) might possibly exist, or just as likely might not?

I have no idea to what extent NDAs are used in the gaming buisness, nor in what situations they might be viewed as unnessecary or irrelevamt to the situation in question.
