I recently finished "Grim Dawn" and "Prey"(2016) and finally "The Evil WIthin 2" just yesterday. All 3 worked great under Proton. Today, I gave "Dsihonored 2" a try but had issues with stuttering and some instability I also tried "Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus" a go but in that case there were complaints about not enough video-memory on my nvidia 960 card. I may have to consider an upgrade. (or switch cards with my other computer that has a 1060)

Valve have one more Steam Play update out before the end of 2018 with 3.16-6

Quoting: FeistGrrr...I wish they could hurry up and make "Batman: Arkham Asylum & City" playable/whitelisted. "Sleeping Dogs", "Mafia II & III", "GTA IV & V" are also titles that I wish they'd prioritize for the whitelist. Same thing with "Fallout III/NV/4"
Fallout NV works flawlessly out of the box for me. I guess Fallout 3 will be similar.
Thanks, that's nice to know. Fallout 3 is unfortunatly non working for me. I get the pre-load menu, chose play game and then I'm just stuck in a black screen until I close it. It's been the same result with every Proton update since the very first. :(

Feral Interactive are teasing another Linux port

Maybe..."Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden", the summary does mention a journey and "flushing point" might be something (post)apocalypse related.

"the Earth is still. Nature has invaded ruined cities. Wind sweeps through empty streets, turned into graveyards.

The humans are all gone. Scavenging through the remains of civilization are the Mutants, deformed humanoids and animals alike, searching for salvation or just something to eat. To survive, you and your companions must venture out to explore the Zone.

Maybe one day you will find the Eden of legends, the ancients’ haven in the middle of hell. That’s where truth awaits, the stories say."

Or possibly "The Sinking city"..."The Sinking City is an adventure and investigation game set in an open world inspired by the universe of H.P. Lovecraft, the master of Horror. The half-submerged city of Oakmont is gripped by supernatural forces. You're a private investigator, and you have to uncover the truth of what has possessed the city… and the minds of its inhabitants.
An oppressive atmosphere and story inspired by the universe of H.P. Lovecraft."

Shadow of the Tomb Raider is officially coming to Linux in 2019

Very nice news! This will be a certain purchase for me.

Like several others have already stated; I'll only consider buying "Proton/Steam Play" titles once they are "whitelisted", once there is virtually zero chanse of a native port and once they are old enough to be sold cheaply.

That won't change unless the whole "landscape" of linux gaming changes to full & perfect Proton compatibility at release for all new & recent games. Something I'm not expecting to see happening anytime soon.

Feral Interactive are teasing a new Linux port, time to start guessing

Quoting: jensIn my opinion it's the other way around. Linux is loosing some native games in the sort term due to Proton. But in the end Proton may help to substantially increase Linux market share and visibility to reach a point where Linux will be considered earlier in the gaming development process. This may lead to more native games in the end.
Hopefully it goes that way. My pessimism is from actually being around in the OS/2 and DOS era, and watching OS/2 disappear when it basically became redundant once it was DOS/Windows compatible. Developers saw that they could just develop for Windows and not worry about OS/2, as it was compatible. We all know how that one ended.

So I see some dangerous parallels here. But maybe I am just being overly pessimistic. If you're into computers for long enough, you begin to see history repeat itself. Just gives me an uneasy feeling.

Anyway, enough of a distraction from this thread. I hope (and expect) this to be Shadow of the Tomb Raider, which will be a day-1 buy for me. I won't buy the Windows version for exactly the reasons stated above.
I've thought quite a bit about that parallel, ever since "Proton" first was announced. (I think I used OS/2 Warp for about a year, it came preinstalled on a laptop) It has kept me (still keeps me) feeling rather ambivalent about the whole project. I just hope the situations then and now are far to different, for there to be any risk of a similar outcome.

ATOM RPG had another huge update expanding the game along with a full release next month

This sounds great, I'll propably start playing this after I finish "Pathfinder" then.

Valve has expanded the Steam Play whitelist to include DARK SOULS III and plenty more
14 Nov 2018 at 8:06 am UTC

Huh, that's the second whitelist in a row without a single game of interest for me. Bad luck of the draw i suppose, still I would have hoped that Valve would prioritize: aaa-titles, games with "large crtical acclaim" and games from big studios that have neglected linux in the past.
