i miss the times when sport games were made for gamers, not for sport fans only, i cant care less about some famous nba person, i do care about character creators that allow us to make monsters like that:

Lenovo Legion Go S with SteamOS now on Best Buy for pre-order with Ryzen Z1 Extreme or Ryzen Z2 Go

the success of this might be more important than the success of steamdeck, i mean, if an thirdy party see they can sell well, others might follow, and since valve wont be launching an new steam deck every year, any competitive disadvantage they have due to it will be nullified by other vendors puting steamOS on their devices.
if that happens, the year has come.

on the other hand, one of the issues is that steamdeck is the only with 2 good trackpads, if it sell more, then more games might start supporting they.

Stardew Valley modding on Linux / Steam Deck takes a step with the Nexus Mods app
18 Mar 2025 at 1:55 pm UTC

this is good, but is just an reminder of how our ecosystem was lacking compared to windows.

"its not about runing games, but running apps that improve the experience of the games, like moding that add more options to the game (eg: now you can create your own levels, now you can futher customize the look of the houses in the sims or this other game) now you can record your matches on league of legends in an lightweight format, that you can later playback in order to convert it to a proper video format, now you can install mods on your mods"

we were so focused on having gaming parity that we forgot the iceber is way deeper, our ecosystem is not even close yet, but we are geting there once we have the most popular things (like the games thenselves) and a bit more marketshare we get the derivative content as well, developers start paying atention.

the name here dont make any sense

on japan there is
Higurashi no Naku Koro ni (When the Cicadas Cry)
Umineko no Naku Koro ni (When the Seagulls Cry)
Ciconia no Naku Koro ni (When the Storks Cry)

when they relased Higurashi here, the distributor tried to change the name to "when they cry" wich messed the name, i couldnt confirm an name change, but i think they added the "higurashi", "umineko" and "circonia" terms later on on the western version, because it wouldnt make sense to pretend that umineko was an sequel to higurashi (especially because if the author relased an new higurashi it would be impossible to name it ,in fact i remember that this issue occured but couldnt confirm searching for the old names , so maybe my memory is playing tricks on me )

naku also have a double meaning.

anyway, higurashi is an great anime (at least the old seassons, looks like the new ones are trash, at least that is what my friend who recomended the original told me, despite that it was quite popular among people who never saw the original)

i still have to play the games, but for umineko, er... the anime is really crazy, it feels like they skiped the explanation of a lot of things and skiped a lot of things from the games only to end up without an conclusion, its good for those who want to be confused, but playing the game probably is a better option.

I hope Valve are watching closely with Microsoft working towards an Xbox Handheld

one thing people forget is that windows on a handheld pc may suck , but layman people might not realize that the problem is windows not handhelds, and if that happen this class of device may go south the sameway that netbooks did, maybe that is the goal of microsoft?

i mean, sure the people who get an steamdeck will have an premium experience and desire an steamdeck 2, but other people who got burned may never give it a try, so that will limit the potential growth of linux devices once again.

Amazon GameLift Streams allows devs to run their own streaming platform - supports Linux and Proton runtimes
13 Mar 2025 at 12:45 am UTC

Probably not much. IIRC, Epic's infrastructure, including Epic Online Services which third-party devs can use, is hosted on AWS, so that's already a big number of players right there.
sure but having the game runing on an server without an GUI and streaming it as an cloud gaming is completely different.

we have servers for online game since a lot of time ago, but hardware power and bandwidth to stream it is relatively new and we still dont have infrastructure for that world wide.

its a bit miss leading if you ask me.
not to mention, they are probably counting the same people twice on 2 different games.

we cant under estimate the incompetence of big tech.
there is a reason why no one ever heard about amazon gaming despite they being trying to take valve marketshare for over an decade...
microsoft failed to stop things like google, android and others from growing, hell they even lose the marketshare that skype, msn and wlm had, not to mention the joke that internet explorer have became.

but they have an stupid ammount of cash so we cant under estimate it either.

i wouldnt like to be in the posisiton of either gabe newell nor xbox ceo/microsoft ceo during this moment, playing this 4D chess.

but its fun to especulate ... what strategy would you use? what strategy do you think they will use?

(both valve and microsoft)

we cant under estimate the xbox brand, they sell a lot considering there is no real advantage in one, yet i dont think they compete for the same market as valve do.
