you can check it by yourself making an list of unsuported games that you wan to play on checkmydeck.ofdgn , then checking if something changed, i have a list with 153 titles that were unsuported but now 49 of then are playable/verified

Quoting: Stella2) Valve only tests a game once, and then usually never again, which is problematic because proton keeps getting better, but also like pointed out, DRM and anti-cheat get added to games. At the very least they should add the proton version this was tested withthat is wrong, there are tons of games they tested again and again to see if its working now.

Quoting: ShabbyXshadders current state is not being portable...Quoting: Nateman1000Why couldn't they? Add an extension no one else can implement (or want to, because it's believed to be a bad idea), devs start using it because needed for xbox/windows, shader is now no longer portable to other systems.Quoting: dpanterMicrosoft Embracing open standards nEver fails to sEnd a chill down my spine.I’m not sure Microsoft can Embrace, Extend, and Extinguish a shader system

also this:
"We believe this will ensure that HLSL is the best language for writing shaders for every GPU runtime environment."
they want to ensure that their standard is still the standard...
wich is good for everyone who chose to learn it, and bad for those who chose the vulkan route.

Quoting: pbWhich one do you think it is?4. they figured out that wine/proton were already perfect at this, so they had nothing to lose in doing that, yet they would earn the benefit of being seing as the good guys, pure pr movement.
1. Corporate cost-cutting
2. Preparing for a future antitrust (look, we're so open!)
3. Actually caring about open standards

but i dont know, it might be good, i bet a lot of the 6 world wide fans of gimick! are excited about this one...
and i probably will regret say so many negative things about an game i know nothing about.

Acer enter the handheld PC gaming race with the Nitro Blaze 7

we have a few companies that might try to enter this market...
Google with an android hardware vendors, probably runing android, or maybe chromeOS?
Nintendo if they feel enough pressure to change their strategy (unlikely to happen any time soon, in fact nintendo would double down on closed ecosystems)
Sony...
Sega (nah, they are best friends with microsoft since the dreamcast days)
maybe if one of the stores enter the hardware market?
Epic? CDPR?
maybe an joint venture?
but being realistic, there is no hope.
either valve sell more than then and force then to change, or we will have an situation similiar to android vs iOS, windows vs Mac, but for consoles.
in any case, valve already disrupted the market or consoles, just like iOS did to phones.

Quoting: enigmaxg2And Valve still has not enabled the sale of the Deck in a lot of countries...other vendors like Asus sell theirs worldwide.apple solution was: make their own hardware to sell their OS.
While is being managed better than Steam Machines, Deck could sell A LOT more by making it available everywhere.
Quoting: Mountain ManSadly, there's no way out of this... or there could be?Quoting: BumadarIt remains a shame that even after the success of the steam deck and proton and steam os the big vendors still keep going back to windows 11. As long as that keeps happening Linux will never really take off. But I guess they rather pay MS a fee for the licence and hire some programmers for another custom app. Money much better spend on steam os and the Linux kernel. The problem is that the big vendors have contracts with Microsoft that give them a discount on Microsoft products in exchange for installing Windows and related malware on every PC they sell. If Acer were to ship this Nitro Blaze thing with an alternate operating system, they would likely be in breach of contract and facing a lawsuit from a ruthless company with deep pockets and well-paid lawyers. At the same time, Valve has proven that the portable PC gaming market is too profitable to ignore, and so we end up with handheld PCs with Windows installed despite it being the least suitable operating system for the purpose.
A shame.

Quoting: Mountain Mani dont think microsoft will sue then, they will charge then more on every other device, wich means they would have to be crazy to challenge microsoft.Quoting: BumadarIt remains a shame that even after the success of the steam deck and proton and steam os the big vendors still keep going back to windows 11. i want to see SEGA enter this space.
and more likely, Playstation but... with an open platform like steamdeck unlike their consoles, it wouldnt be the first time , they tried to make something like that with the OtherOS on Playstation3 , and Linux Support on PS2, so... who knows? maybe they finally decide to fight against microsoft in their homeland?

this boring commercial reminds me of pc space at e3...
sony, nintendo, microsoft and others spend their time showing the games you could play on their platform, it was exciting in many cases...
then the pc gaming space? specs, specs and more specs, what a boring presentation.
