Humble Bundle plan to put the much loved sliders back on bundle pages
8 May 2021 at 2:36 pm UTC

Quoting: tomaszgSliders were useful, mostly if the "charity" for a particular bundle was rather bad.
This.

This was exactly why I used sliders. If I had an issue with the charity, I throw the slider down to '0' and give Humble and the developers more...

Looks like Narita Boy from Studio Koba will now not be supported on Linux
31 Mar 2021 at 10:12 am UTC

This might be very naive of me, but aren't there enough of us here willing to do free 'testing' and even support the QA? I can't imagine the additional costs being that high, especially if they're using Unity.

Edit: Hell, ask the backers to test the Linux build? They already paid for it?!

Quoting: GuestI finally got around to playing Deponia: The Complete journey - it's so funny and the puzzles aren't stupid or overly complicated - I managed to finish the first game without watching tutorials.
It really is something of a gem, isn't it? We (my daughter and I) have probably played it through three times now and we laugh all the way through every time. When you consider that it wasn't even written in English and this is a translation, it's pretty incredible!

After finally picking it up on sale, I've been playing through Streets of Rage 4. It's light, fun and nostalgic with enough new little elements to keep me interested. My only concern is that SteamDB seems to suggest that the DLC will be Windows only...

Transport Tycoon Deluxe reimplementation OpenTTD has a fresh Beta with OpenGL

[off topic]Is it even possible to talk about modern transport vehicules and infrastructure in latin ? :dizzy:
[/off topic]
Whyever not? Surely it is the same for any other language as new words are created? You could say 'secum communicandi' instead of Internet, but most other languages just used the word, "Internet," anyway. Perhaps, in the realms of openTTD 'celeriter iter sinum currus' might be used to describe a mass-transit highway, if you didn't just want to keep 'motorway' or 'highway'

There's a new Linux driver for the Guitar Hero Live (PS3) and Wii U Guitar devices
13 Oct 2020 at 4:49 pm UTC

Quoting: CyrilNice! I have an old controller from Guitar Hero 2 PS2, with an USB/PS2 adapter it works great. And Clone Hero is pretty cool, as I can play all the GH songs, and more, without swapping the DVDs, restart the console etc.
However, it seems Clone Hero hasn't be updated since last year... too bad it's not open source too.
What happened to Frets on Fire? That was gpl, I think, and I imagine that the input driver would still work there?

The new TUXEDO Book XUX7 is an absolute monster desktop-replacement laptop

Quoting: Purple Library GuyIt's cool, but at that point why "replace"? Why not just have a desktop computer?
Perhaps you have more than one desk that you work at, or no regular desk.
Something like this would be perfect for my wife's work machine. She is an artist and does a lot of graphic design for proofs/mockups of crafted products. While, during the day, she works at a desk, in the late afternoons and evenings, she works from the sofa.

TUXEDO announce the Polaris 15 and 17 Linux laptops ready for gaming

Quoting: medI see that unfortunately it comes with an nvidia GPU. I understand this works for some, but it is a no-go for me. Is there any good quality offering of a pure AMD gaming laptop?
Quoting: setzer22AMD CPU but no option without Nvidia... Makes me sad :(
I've been out of the GPU-loop for about five years now, but are Linux AMD drivers good enough for gaming now? This was always a problem before?

That said, I am very excited about this company.

Ludo is a new sleek front-end for Libretro, as an alternative to RetroArch
31 Aug 2020 at 6:50 pm UTC

Quoting: dibzWhile this doesn't work for me, I'm glad it exists. The retroarch guys definitely follow a particular mindset, while I won't call it wrong-headed since everyone has their own opinions, it doesn't mesh well with me. On several occasions I've tried to properly set up six+ button controllers, like a real sega saturn pad, and figuring I must be doing it wrong for it to be so difficult I googled it... and after reading similar opinions and what the retroarch people thought of them, I just use something else.
Emulation used to be a really active thing on Linux, but recently it seems that the only option, particularly for Sega games, is RetroArch. I had the same problem (and similar issues mapping out a Logitec P2600 as an N64 pad) and in the end, I gave up.

TUXEDO Computers announce the lightweight AMD Ryzen powered TUXEDO Pulse 14
25 Aug 2020 at 12:37 pm UTC

I'm thinking of getting one of these, or the Pulse 15, for my wife as a work machine. She's a heavy GIMP user and this with enough RAM and the upgraded Ryzen 7, looks awesome. Does anyone have any experience with them?
