Quoting: thewhoI never played this game, but bought it at GOG.com. For the full experience should i play it with this interpreter or just emulate the original game?
Are there any missing things from the original version?
I haven't played in the last two versions, but there were certainly a couple of small issues that were drawbacks vs the original, but on the whole, the engine improvements over the original (which was a DOS game) are more than worth it.

Pharaoh-like isometric city builder Nebuchadnezzar confirmed for GOG and Steam

While I am very excited for this, having been bitterly disappointed by Caesar IV, I do wonder why all of the sprites are so repetitive? Surely in 2020 disk space isn't such a limited resource that all houses share the same graphics and all markets are identical?

Steam Achievement Manager 'SamRewritten' has a new release

Quoting: ageresUgh, cheating software...
This hadn't even occurred to me, though it seems obvious now it is mentioned. I was actually going to download it to use for some games (12 is better than 6, is the first that comes to mind) where achievements were broken on Linux when I played it, to make Steam reflect the actual situation. I've also known games not trigger achievements sometimes (like a bonus achievement for unlocking all others (DOTT Remastered, I'm looking at you,) so there's a few legitimate reasons someone might want to use this that aren't about cheating.

I'm desperately hoping for online, cross-platform co-op to arrive later on. Need to play this with my brother like we did over two decades ago.

Abbey Games announce they're going to let staff go in December as they "scope down"

Quoting: TheSHEEEPLooking at how their latest game was received, that's unfortunately not very surprising.
Hope they can get back on track with their next game, though.
The problem is that the game they produced wasn't the game their backers had imagined. Many saw it as the (long awaited) spiritual successor to Populous and what materialised was a dice-rolling combat simulator. I'm not pointing fingers about who is responsible (we, the backers, are going to imagine everything with the words, "God-sim," to be this, just as there were possibly things said/suggested that were misleading...)

Just a shame, really, though.

Abbey Games have released the Will Of The People update for Godhood

I was one of the Kickstarter backers for this game and I was a bit disappointed when it came out. I know it is still EA, but all of the Hype had suggested this could be a spiritual successor to Populous. As you say, there's so little to actually do and the battled are automated RPG-style dice rolling.

I really hope they add more actual 'stuff' to do, as I'm still waiting for a good, modern Populous...

Quoting: GuestDeponia is an horrible game, bugged and with illogical puzzles, a pain to play even for free.
I'll admit that by Deponia 4, the puzzles had become a little abstract, but I (and my daughter) found the original trilogy hilarious, great fun to play and didn't encounter a single bug. We've played it start-to-finish three times now.

Sounds like you were just unlucky.

What are you playing this weekend?

I'm on the classics, DOTT Remastered and Ninja Pizza Girl. My daughter is choosing!
She has requested some Deponia for tomorrow, though.

Been waiting way too long for something like Populous/Black and White (without the monsters/pets) to turn up on Linux. Fingers crossed this can go some way to meeting that need.

I don't know about Black & White. I mean, no giant creature?
It sounds more like Populous to me.
SOLD!
