So everybody wants it but nobody will buy it but it won't be released if not sold enough...? Well, that's a pickle.

My First Hours With A Steam Controller

Quoting: Stupendous ManOne question: do you need to launch the games from Big Picture for the controller to work, or only for the initial setup? I have an issue with Big Picture and multiple monitors, in that I cannot configure Big Picture to run on a different monitor than the main Steam window.
Unfortunately, yes.
Well that's a bummer! In that case I'm not really sure that I want to get a Steam Controller, unless they fix it so that the Steam window and Big Picture can run on different screens.
I'm pretty sure that's coming very soon. Don't forget the gamepad is not officially released. My guess is they're rushing for flawless support on SteamOS, with Windows/Mac/Linux to follow before Christmas. I mean technically it works on each platform, but the mandatory Big Picture is a problem, indeed.

That move makes sense. Can't say I blame Valve for it. Heck, I'd be happy with more out of the box games.

Several Sites Publish Their Thoughts On Steam Machines & The Steam Controller

The Alienware Alpha is the worst of the Steam Machines. It is ridiculous how much better Steam Machine you can make yourself and still keep things relatively small. All the Alpha has going for itself is slick design and very small factor. Even for a pre-made Steam Machine is is terrible bang for the buck.

AMD Lose Another Big Name, This Time To Nvidia

Quoting: footy19Jim Keller has always been a whore for the highest bidder. And as for Phil Im sure they can hire someone
new just as talented. These changes may ever allow for some new blood and fresh ideas. I have used
AMD products for years and I haven't regretted any of my purchases. I for one will not support the closed
nature of nvidia and will not support the evil business practices of intel.
How is finding a better job being a whore? It's called social mobility. I'm pretty sure if somebody came and told you - would you like to make 100k more an year, you'd probably quit your job, as well.

F*ck Firaxis and their intentionally chopped up games. I'm only buying this once the complete edition is out and at a huge discount. It was possible to have all of this stuff in 99 with Alpha Centauri, but somehow 2014/2015 it's impossible to have base mechanics implemented into the new game. And they try to charge us at outrageous rates. So, yeah - f*ck Firaxis and f*ck Sid Meier; I'm going back to EUIV and Endless Legend.

Saints Row 2 & 3 Are Being Ported By Virtual Programming

I'm happy to see more and more people are recognizing VP are actually the good guys. Native ports have been getting worse in performance and more limited in hardware support. They hardly do anything good for the cause of Linux gaming.
And sorry to burst your bubble, people, but Shadow of Mordor is NOT a good port. It's mediocre one, at least in terms of performance. People with much older hardware can play the game on Windows as compared to Linux.
I'm truly sad to see so many people are still obsessed with "native ports". Native ports have in general been quite unimpressive. Say what you want, but the only constant performance progression I've observed lately has been with the wrapper games.
