Divinity: Original Sin Enhanced Edition Looks Set For Release This Month

Man, I hate cinematic trailers. Is there a more useless, misinforming crap than that?
Anyway, I'll be passing this one. I'm currently playing the Witcher III and Fallout IV is just a month away. Instead of Divinity, I'll probably give Wastelend 2 a chance, once its enhanced edition is out. It's been collecting dust in my library since release.

Quoting: tuubiTrue, but to be fair GOG do not have the absurd amount of games to filter out on their hands, Valve do. There is no way to have a 100% effective quality control of a game. Not to mention quality, when it comes to entertainment products/art is veeeeeery subjective. I guarantee you there are enough people who will be entertained with how hilariously bad this game is :))).Quoting: rudeboyskunkI'll be honest. I did this when the Linux client came out. I clicked yes for every Greenlight game that had Linux support and no for every game that didn't just to get more Linux games on Steam. Was it for better or worse? I don't know; but I don't regret doing it.Having unfinished drivel like this available for Linux does not "further our cause" in any way. Unless you think Linux's success as a gaming platform can be measured by the number of games available on Steam.
Personally I think basically abandoning quality control on Steam is one of Valve's worst blunders thus far. Although how exactly should they fairly judge games for eligibility? Don't know. Don't actually care that much. I do know you can't buy joke games like this on GOG.

This reminds me of a buggier version of Trespasser. Even the graphics are comparable.

In any case, both sites have a massive fan base. Kinguin has almost half a million followers in Facebook, G2A - over a million. And their customer base goes beyond that. It sure would take some stones to be that public and popular if you laundered dirty money. Heck, the piratebay guys are in jail and they were doing their thing for free.

Quoting: ricki42Well, I don't believe that most of the keys come from stolen credit cards, that's the thing. At least not when it comes to say Kinguin. The fact they're so an*l about where you're located so that you pay the right amount of VAT (in accordance to EU regulations) means that the Polish tax institutions are looking at them and their affairs hard enough. I really doubt their tax agency will be like - we're ok with you laundering stolen credit card money as long as you pay your VAT. G2A for example doesn't really care and is ok if you just declare you're not EU based customer. But Kinguin goes out of their way to detect your account's true location so that you pay your VAT.Quoting: maodzedunThe fact is there are extremely low prices in Russia and South America. This means that they can turn an acceptable profit even at lower prices if they wish to be bothered. No, it means that the other markets subsidize those markets. The games are sold at those lower prices because the devs would rather get a little bit of money than none. It doesn't mean that the game would be profitable if they sold at that price everywhere. And sometimes those cheaper keys are limited in number, like when the key resellers buy the physical copies and then sell the digital keys that come with those at a higher price in a different region.
Quoting: maodzedunFrom where I stand they don't respect my local market enough to offer me a price suited with the local economical situation. Many people would just pirate, I choose to find the better price and hope they still get some of my money. I fully understand why many of you will disagree with me, but I do hope you guys understand from where I stand - this is the moral thing to do.I understand your situation, but I really dislike how many gamers use the threat of piracy almost as a way to blackmail publishers. Of course it's your right to find a better price, but when you support illegal activities in the process, that crosses a line. Most games go on sale on Steam or humble for less than the reseller launch price within less a year. Is waiting a year really so bad that you'd rather support credit card fraught?

I think not.I sympathize but we're not exactly talking about a basic need like food or medication. Nothing about games and other entertainment in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
Hard to say if enabling these shady outlets by buying through them is any better from a moral standpoint than pirating the games. But I guess the developer does get a cut in most cases even if the cut is minimal.

I'm sorry but I disagree with the key reseller part. Indeed, some of the keys are stolen but the majority have been purchased in some cheap location like South America. So, yeah - I buy games on G2A and Kinguin and quite often on Nuuvem through VPN. I've absolutely no remorse - I live in a poor country where the average monthly wage is 350 euro but I'm expected to pay the same price as people from countries where it is five to ten times higher? I think not.
I'm pretty sure Rockstar would prefer me buying GTA V from Nuuvem (as I did) than no buying it at all. Games should either have a flat global price - "it is what it is", or be priced per country. Grouping countries in regions is idiotic.
I live in a place where 99% of the people pirate everything and I've made the conscious decision to not pirate. Until developers and mostly - publishers, decide to fix pricing, I'll keep buying from 3rd party resellers and in my head I'm still doing the right thing.

Grand Ages: Medieval Strategy Game Released For Linux, Some Thoughts

Quoting: Segata SanshiroAll of them for CKII and almost all of them for EUIV. By "almost" I mean I lack a couple of the sprite packs and music add-ons. As a matter of fact I launchedCKII today, as I hadn't in a long time and I was like: "Why doesn't diplo screen open with right click? Oh, right...". Then I realized the ledger sucks, the war AI is idiotic and you can still cancel an army's movement a day before it reaches it's destination. It's still a fun game, mind you, but not necessarily a fun strategy after you've gotten into EUIV. I kind of get why Arumba stopped playing CKII. If they could merge the two games and have all of EUIV but in the Medieval with all the sim/RPG of CKII - that would be the perfect strategy.Quoting: maodzedunI chuckled a bit when you said Crusader Kings II overwhelmed you. I used to think the same thing. Having finally finished a full playthrough of EUIV last night, I'm actually thinking - CKII was kind of simplistic :DIt all depends on how many expansions you have as well, but EU4 is more complicated IMO.

Insurgency FPS Now Has The Linux Port On Their Official Trello Todo List

Quoting: HoriI own it already, can't wait to finally be able to play it. I tried it 1.5 years ago when I still had Windows and I had very low FPS on the lowest settings, I hope that the Linux version + optimizations since then, will make for a playable amount of FPS. As long as it runs smoothly, the lowest settings are just fine (except for the resolution, which has to be native)Last I checked it a few months back, the FPS drops were still a bit of an issue. You'd expect Source engine game to not dip under 60fps on a 290x but... yeah.
