Grand Ages: Medieval From Kalypso Media Digital Looks Like It Will Be On Linux

Quoting: KeyrockNot a big surprise (welcome nonetheless) as Kalypso has gotten rather Linux friendly lately with Tropico 5, Crookz, and now this. Not to rub it in but - Mad Max, too :))).
As an aside, the release two days ago of Nobunaga's Ambition: Sphere of Influence has, for the first time in a long time, given me Windows envy. I know, I know, I should be getting Windows envy over MGS V, but I'd scoop up Nobunaga's Ambition in a heartbeat were it on the penguin, especially since, for once, Koei Tecmo has actually brought the entire package (not just the base game) west, and onto PC. We're not starved for grand strategies on Linux, that's one area that's pretty well covered by the Linux friendliness of Paradox and now Kalypso, but those are generally set in Europe, which is fine, but I'd kill for a Japanese grand strategy. :S:

Arma 3 Available For Linux In A Beta

Quoting: MADDSNIPERIts probably worth pointing out that to play on most multiplayer servers you need to install battleye which is essentially a rootkit giving a third party control over most of your system. They can monitor all the files you have on each drive, upload and download anything they want and you must agree to this to use most online servers for arma 2 / arma 3 / dayz etc.Welcome to the world of AAA gaming :).

Considering it's badly optimized in Windows, uses a wrapper and the port is technically in alpha stage - this is some very impressive performance. I think my prediction eOn might save Linux gaming might just come true. There seems to be very little performance difference with Windows. Good job VP.
Obsidian: Developing For Linux Was Not Worth It

Will everybody stop counting Obsidian's profits? Did anybody stop and think this company consists of some of the most successful and reknown developers of the last 30 years? You know - people who maybe, just maybe, know more about making games and selling them than a bunch of random people on the internet.
GTX 760 Vs R7 370 4G In Company Of Heroes 2

On the topic - as the proud owner of two 290x's set in Crossfire, you can understand me pain when I see them outperformed by something like a 760 (although I imagine a 750 too). However, in this case, I find it highly suspicious that it's not just the AMD driver. They do not officially support AMD hardware and obviously the game was never optimized for it. I'm not blaming Feral (too much) - we're less than 20% of the overall GPU market and probably much less among Linux users.

Quoting: SabunI beg to disagree - the benchamarks I've see show that the Fury's 4 gigs of HBM are not always enough at 4K. For all it's bandwidth it get's outperformed by the GDDR5 Nvidias because when you need 6GB for ultra HD textures - you need 6GB, not 4 :))). Don't get me wrong - stacked memory is a good thing and will enable single card 4K gaming, eventually, but the GPUs themselves are still the bottleneck. My prediction is that will be the case with at least the next generation of cards. Plus - there is always some better hardware just a few months away.Quoting: Mountain ManPerformance with the 760 looks pretty darn good to me. It's not the fastest card on the market, but I've found it a very capable performer. I don't see myself needing to upgrade for at least another year.A wise decision. If I was in your shoes, I'd wait until the new generation of cards after the 900 series. A new die shrink and HBM are already more compelling reasons to wait rather than jump ship to 900 series from 700 series.
Samsai, thanks for the performance comparison. From AMD's Bridgman comment [External Link] on Phoronix, I would have expected the RadeonSI driver to work better but it looks like there's still performance and stability issues (I was kind of hoping for a cool miracle too, but alas).
Would you say the CPU usage when using Nvidia blob VS RadeonSI was similar? I'm curious.
The New Starbound Update Has Arrived With A Great Trailer, Huge Update

It's a great game. Devs can't cater to everybody's taste. Last year people were complaining it was too sandbox with not enough features. Now there suddenly there are too many features and the game is too engaging. Damned if you do, damned if you don't. Terraria lost me in about 15 minutes. Starbound is superior game as it is and every update only increases the margin.
