Cautiously waiting to see how much of the existing content they'll cut in the new game :).

NVIDIA have released the big new Linux Beta driver 440.26 today
17 Oct 2019 at 4:12 pm UTC

Quoting: poke86Would this be the appropriate driver to have for Proton then? I'm kind of confused with the different versions TBH.
I tend to stick to the Vulkan Beta driver, as these tend to be the most bleeding edge in terms of feature support, ergo performance. But if you're on Stable or Beta - probably a safe bet to use this one.

Valve updates Counter-Strike: Global Offensive for French players to deal with loot boxes

OK, having read some of the comments, I'd like to do a reality check to some of our community's members. For one loot boxes are gambling in practice if not but legal definition (yet). There are people with actual gambling problems who cannot play games because opening the in-game store is for them like an alcoholic walking into a licker store. Second there actual children who gamble via loot boxes. So as a person who supports LEGAL gambling, I say - place a big fat "there are gambling mechanics" in this game and make it +18. People with problems will avoid it, kids will be prohibited from playing it, parents will know what their kids are playing. Is it a perfect solution - no. But guess what - there aren't perfect solutions and some regulation beats both zero regulation or complete prohibition.

The Atari VCS team is finally talking about games as they're partnering with Antstream Arcade

So they expect you to buy the box and then to lease the games?
No need for the box then...
pointless I might as well get a ChromeCast Ultra and use google stadia
It's actually going to be available as an app. Essentially you'll need lower mid-class from the past 5 years to do what they're offering. Dammit, Atari...

Valve updates Counter-Strike: Global Offensive for French players to deal with loot boxes

Hmm, isn't that the exact same things as a normal loot box, only that you're now forced to buy another item on top of that?

Valve are expanding Steam Remote Play with defaults for popular games and a new API

Yet, they can't be bothered to ad HEVC/h.265 support for desktop to desktop streaming... How can they be THIS lazy?

EVERSPACE 2 announced, with more of a focus on exploration and it will release for Linux

I own the first one. Loved the graphics and combat (essentially Freelancer), but I really did not care for the rougelike gameplay. Really happy to hear the second one is going the exploration way. Between this and Starpoint Gemini 3, Freelancer fans are getting their fix of space dogfights and exploration.

DXVK 1.2.2 released with performance improvements and bug fixes
16 Jun 2019 at 7:10 am UTC

Quoting: massatt212Once stuttering is solved DXVK will be perfect it already performs close to windows and sometimes beats it in performance
Let's not get carried away there. For the most part performance is good, even very good, but still notably worse than Windows. Especially on Nvidia. On AMD there are the weird exceptions, but this is mostly because AMD can't write a proper driver to save their live and the open source Linux driver outperforms the proprietary Windows driver in some games like Hitman 2. But this has less to do with DXVK and more with AMD. Also the reason you don't see such anomalies on Nvidia.

Obviously, that being said DXVK is nothing short of a miracle for Linux gaming. Only wish the project would branch out to software besides games, but hey - you can't really complain, all things considered :).

The Bard's Tale IV: Barrows Deep to launch on Linux "late summer", no Bard’s Tale Trilogy due to Steam Play

It's fine as long as they make the effort of officially supporting the game via Steam Play.

Easy Anti-Cheat is actually still supported for Linux, a statement from Epic Games
7 May 2019 at 10:20 am UTC Likes: 9

Oh, for fuck sake, what do you people want? A written statement signed in Tim Sweeney's blood? They're not stopping anything and just being honest about prioritizing Windows over Linux because duh. Being critical of Epic is one thing, but being ridiculous tin foil wearer is just absurd.

Good for you for owning up the mistake Liam. Also thank you for the new info on the matter.
