Valve announces new networking APIs for developers and Steam Link Anywhere

Great!!! Now add effing h265 support for the desktop client as well. It is one of the stupidest things ever, that there is HEVC encoding/decoding support when streaming to a an Android device, but laptops and desktops - "Nobody need that, right? ...Right?" And it's not like I'm simply b*tching about a feature nobody would ever use. Anybody on the go with a laptop would definitely benefit from the lower bandwidth requirements of h265 encoding. Just saying.

Details on how Slay the Spire sold on Linux plus some thoughts

I'm stunned why some people can face cold numbers and still refuse to accept reality. The Linux market is TINY which is why game sales are also tiny in percent. A lot of people like to present alternative math by which 10% of all Linux gamers on Steam will always buy any given game. Well guess what - it doesn't work that way. Nobody ports to Linux expecting a profit bar actual porting companies. All in-house ports are a work of love and mad props to developers who actually do them. But next tine a couple of spiteful people (you know exactly who you have) start spitting venom at a developer who plain admits the numbers aren't there - please refer them to this article.

Some information on why Wine is not going to be using DXVK

Maybe he just doesn't feel like it. I get offers from people trying to sell me stuff and services all the time. Am I rude for not replying? And I'm not talking about spam.

The 'Linux Steam Integration' project has a fresh minor release out
15 Jan 2019 at 4:34 pm UTC

Quoting: pbDoes it work on SteamOS? I wonder if it would help with Move or Die, which has been broken for a year or so, while working fine on arch.
I think it's ClearLinux specific at the moment and maybe Solus.

For those wanting to try out Steam Play, the new Humble Monthly has Yakuza 0
4 Jan 2019 at 10:20 pm UTC

Sweet. I've been meaning to buy this one. No idea when I'll actually get to playing it, since I'm currently replaying Sleeping Dogs and my days off are almost over. But I've been wanting to play the Yakuza series long before they actually ported them to PC. The Division - meh...

Epic Games have confirmed a Linux version of their store is not on the roadmap

It's absolutely painful to read how detached from reality some people are. This is why we can't have nice things on Linux. From b*tt-hurt comments about why the Epic store doesn't have a Linux version planned to absurd conspiracy theories. We should set a Patreon goal called "aluminum foil", so that we can buy the lot of you material to make nice hats.

The Epic store is absurdly barebones. Epic thought they could get away with a very cut down version of a game store, but reality slapped them in the face pretty fast. So now they need to integrate a crap ton of stuff Steam has, to make users happy. Anybody who is not completely insane would prioritize that over a Linux version, because there are more Windows gamers who care about achievements, than there are Linux gamers overall. It's basic math. I am 100% sure Linux support is happening. Don't forget - we're still waiting on GOG Galaxy, which is why I only play GOG games on Windows.

I'm not even going to comment on the whole Tencent conspiracy theory. Somebody even mentioned the Chinese government. Seriously guys?

Hope Proton will get updated to Wine 4 soon. Seems they'll be skipping 3.18 altogether.

Some thoughts on Counter-Strike: Global Offensive’s Danger Zone, the new Battle Royale mode

Honestly, I don't see this thing biting much of Fortnite or PUBG's playerbase. The main appeal seems to be - it's free and it's Valve. Not saying it's a bad game, but coming on time to the party, actually matters. If this was a game published by anybody else nobody would really pay any attention to it (well, bar the Linux community perhaps). At least CS is completely free now :).

For now, the experimental Linux (and Mac) port of ARMA 3 will not see any more updates

To be fair, they declared since day one this was purely experimental and they'd only go through with official port if they saw the numbers and it was worthwhile. It sucks for anybody who bought the game, but you can't really be mad at Bohemia and VP, considering they openly said - this has a high probability of going nowhere, purchase at your own risk.
