Been hoping this would get a Linux version before it was even released. Now that there is a dim of light, I hope it will not be threatened by the lack of Galaxy.
Looks like GOG Galaxy won't come to Linux any time soon, as it's "not a priority"

To elaborate:
One can setup DosBox himself yes but keep in mind that not everyone has the same computer skills, using Linux doesn't automatically make a person a geek, I know a few of them locally in my area and their Linux knowledge is equal to the Windows one, being the very basics. Without having GOG do this for them, sales could be lost.
DRM-Free - you said that is not important for you. Again this is just you. Many people have been fighting for DRM-Free (not just in games) for quite a few years now. Much as I'd like to, I didn't buy most of the games ported by Aspyr and Feral exactly because of DRM presence, otherwise I would have already bought them especially the DiRt series.
You talk so highly about Valve did this, Gabe did that, I'll give credit where its due and yes I fully agree that without Valve Linux gaming wouldn't be the way it is now (although I cannot forget to mention that it was Humble Bundle which pushed Linux at first), but there's one thing you didn't mention - Valve has a much deeper pocket than GOG which means they can afford some ventures, whereas GOG might be a little more restricted.
With that said, I am in no way defending GOG, they're just as guilty the minute they said that Linux Galaxy isn't a priority. I used to believe and support them a lot, way before I switched to Linux. Nowadays however I have much less credibility, almost everything they stood for has been crumbled. The only thing that keeps me there is the DRM-Free, otherwise they would end up the same way Humble Bundle ended for me.
One very important thing to keep in mind is that not everyone can tolerate a DRM-Free only gaming life, especially with high profile (AAA) games not being available. So I fully understand those people that have no problem with using Steam. After all it's not different than someone using Windows, I've heard it many times from Windows users asking me "but is there GTA V, BF4/1 or Overwatch?" and they would stick to Windows the second I say no.

Quoting: johndoeGOG Galaxy not releasing for Linux - OK for me.While some points are fair, some of them are also a bit way off.
I did never buy any single game from them or any other store - but Steam/Valve.
Why? This is an easy answer.
No other company (beside Feral, some others) really cares/pushes linux gaming. Selling "only" games means nothing.
Also putting DOSBox infront of "old but great" DOS games does not count for me - I can do this myself.
I also don't care if a game is DRMfree or not - this is not important.
Important for me is that I give my money to people that deserve it... to people that really care about Linux, to people that believe in Linux, to people that spend their money to improve Linux, to people who hire other linux people... to people like VALVE.
We should be thankfull and happy that Gabe Newell took this risky step to push linux gaming, convinced and motivated so much other people to put their affords into linux and don't be sad because GOG galaxy does not come to linux.
We all owe so much to this guy and his team.
To be honest... for me this news is positive. I hope some of you will now buy more games on Steam and support the people that deserve it.
This will raise selling numbers for Linux games on Steam and then we will get 5% market share much faster like when everybody buys here and there.
Only then we linux gamers will get the attention WE DESERVE.
And only then competition in selling linux games gets neccessary!!!
Think about it.

So far the games ruined by the lack of Galaxy were not in my best interest, this one however is, so hopefully it will make it to GOG.

Much of the problem with this is not the client itself, but the way games are depending on it. If GOG at least provides devs with stub Api's, part of the problem would be solved and Linux users could at least play Single player mode.
Another thing that it's very important to mention is that game Devs don't even bother (or try) to take their Steam versions and make them DRM-Free. It is not an impossible task, For the record: When the dev for Crypt of the Necrodancer didn't release a Linux version on GOG because there was no Galaxy, seeing as many people were angry about it, a couple of days later he released the Linux version on GOG without multiplayer, so what's stopping game devs from doing the same?
Personally I don't give a damn about the client, automatic updates, achievements and cloud saves. All I want is to play the game.

Tooth and Tail, Sudden Strike 4, Serious Sam's Bogus Detour. How many more will be lost because Linux Galaxy is "not a priority"? Game devs will not wait forever till GOG decides to wake up, they will move on to a new project and then might be too late to implement Galaxy in their older title, if and when it arrives.
On a plus side, each Linux game GOG sells is well packaged and I never had any issues with them, so why fall short at the very end of the journey? It doesn't make sense to me.
I pretty much gave up on hoping for a Witcher 3 native port, but Galaxy for Linux and not a priority? I'm disappointed that GOG has fallen so low to not care about their Linux user base (which btw, it's not much less than their Mac one and apparently Mac is on their list of priorities for them.

don't shoot the messengerI won't and I don't even have to, GOG are shooting themselves anyway. As long as they keep going this route, more and more great games will be missing the Linux version from their store.

What games do you want ported to Linux? Feral Interactive want to know again

So according to what you say, there's no need for a Witcher 3 Linux port? Sorry but I beg to differ, first let me say about the FFXV and Linux users' systems, have a look at the "View PC info" of the GoL users, you'll find that many of them have medium-high end systems.
Now going back to Witcher 3, getting the game to run in Wine took many patches and my almost 1,200 Euro system cannot run it more than 30fps with low settings. Meanwhile my other old 5 year old system can run it at almost 65+ fps at a much higher detail on Windows. Despite this game's 2 years old now, I bet many Linux users would buy it if it was ported.

Quoting: ShoNuff!!!Final Fantasy XV (maybe...maybe not... kinda feel like most linux users have weak systems that favor Indie games to begin with -->could be wrong)Just because a game "runs" in Wine doesn't mean there's no need to port it. Hell if we make it that way, devs might as well just develop for Windows and sit back while the Wine project advances enough for a game to be playable.
If it can be played on WINE there is no value to justify porting to linux... and with that logical reasoning --> Witcher 3 and Overwatch did not make the list. Hellblade: Senua (this game seems too short and not enough lasting $/percentage of market interest)

ARK: Survival Evolved updated with the latest 'Unreal Rendering code', still terrible on Linux

It's a shame to see so many problems with the Unreal Engine on Linux, I have yet to see a single UE4 game working well on Linux. Hopefully more Vulkan support in the future and the devs could use it right off the bat for better cross-platform support, it would surely make their work a bit easier too.
I tend to pit this game in the same vein as Rust, they're both survival games and despite Rust being a bit better, they're both a hot topic when it comes to performance on Linux.
Going by the comments, it seems the devs are either not allocating any resources to the Linux version or simply don't have the manpower to tackle the issues.

Looking back at 2 years ago when I switched to Linux, the OS has come very far in terms of gaming and not only that. Open source software such as Mesa has got more attention than just "being a gpu driver", Wine development has accelerated and there's plenty of support for modern hardware also.
All this was a dream I that couldn't fulfill 10 years ago, due to the limited game library and lack of OS popularity. My only wishful thinking is that more developers push their games to GOG. There's a good sum of Linux users on GOG that are probably salivating to get their hands on those high budget Linux ports.
I'll be the first to tell you that I'd love to play DiRt Rally till the sun rises.

Witcher 3, because it's the only one that would ever make it to GOG.

Paradox for me is the kind of company that I would be very happy to support, but they keep making it my mission to stay away. They barely release any modern games on GOG, and by making their own client it will not improve their chances either.
With that said, I'm well aware that the there's no GOG Galaxy on Linux (if it will ever happen) but Paradox so far hasn't even released the Windows/Mac versions of their games.
