Quoting: chomwittWhen we say we run Control (D3D) i guess we mean in Wine with a D3D linux port , right?
It means the Windows version played with Proton.

Quoting: BogomipsWhat about Denuvo support? I thought it was not compatible (yet?) with proton.
Denuvo DRM has worked for quite some time now.

Quoting: CatKillerHave you played THPS? If this game has the same slightly floaty physics and slightly stiff camera as that, that would be a good thing; if it's weird in a different way, that would be a bad thing.
It feels nothing like THPS.

Couch gaming Linux distribution ChimeraOS has a new release
16 Sep 2021 at 8:56 am UTC

Quoting: slaapliedjeYeah, ChimeraOS really only brings a newer kernel and drivers, for the most part over the currently released version of SteamOS.
It does plenty more including Chimera (Steam Buddy) to provide an interface to get other stores and things working within it. Their steamos-compositor-plus also brings a number of enhancements like higher resolution support, adds a bunch of game fixes and more. There's plenty to ChimeraOS that's on top of being a more update SteamOS-like.

GameMaker Studio 2 update released to bring forth the Ubuntu Linux editor Beta

Quoting: Purple Library GuyWonder if that distro support language is kind of hedging bets based on the idea that going forward, once it exists, they may find they want to support SteamOS 3.
It would be stupid not to really, although they really badly need to improve their controller support.

xrdesktop for turning your desktop into a VR space had a productive Summer

Quoting: jrtSo tldr is that a Valve co-sponsored VR project has a better keyboard than SteamVR?
This isn't actually about SteamVR. xrdesktop is its own thing but you can use it to layer windows from your desktop on top of a SteamVR game, as an example. So for a livestreamer, they could use it to show Twitch chat and use the new keyboard implementation to interact with that layered window without touching a normal keyboard.

Clearing up what games will and won't run on the Steam Deck

Quoting: andregregorherrmannIf you think BS is junk, why you then just acknowledge what absolutely is not clear. You are an important source and could do much better.
I've no idea at this point what you're trying to say. My article does not use BS and so it does not link to it. This was a refresher article to go over the current known state of things.

Edit: I have included the note on the Steamworks video. Even though we already covered it (as I commented previously), it's worth mentioning again in this article to sum it up for expectations.
