Quoting: PatolaI love XCOM2 but I'm still waiting for a good deal to get War of the Chosen... So I guess that whatever this new expansion is, I'll wait a while before buying it too. :-/33% off on Humble Store [External Link], don't know if that's enough for you though. Extra 10% off if you're subbed to the monthly too.
What are you playing this weekend?

Humble Store has a Summer Sale on, here's a look at what's going for Linux

To echo what's already said: There's plenty of terrible native games, hello ARK.
I agree that what matters most importantly is actual support.

Quoting: Alm888Control. Developers will *usually* want actual control over it. Proton doesn't really give them any control. Doing it themselves will and it will give them more incentive to do so if the platform actually manages to gain some market share - which Proton *could* help with more than really anything else that's happened in the last few years.Quoting: GuestIt can very well also on the other side tell dev's that Linux users have interest. And why should they? They would just get additional (small) money without doing anything.

Quoting: GuestWhat I said still applies. They need the anti-cheat in, as people will attempt to do all kinds of crap in *all* game modes. They also need the anti-cheat to be thoroughly tested before the full release.Quoting: liamdaweFrom your steam post: [External Link]I think it would be pertinent to give my quote context (i.e. the whole non-truncated sentence):
I don't know why it's such a big deal to have EAC there for that in a beta, especially when this beta will have all in-game stats/unlocks wiped clean at the end.People do all sorts of shitty hacks to ruin games. It's not just about gaming progression, it's about the experience for players.
And also, Valve did ask people to send issues to them, not the game developer.
I only really am interested in playing co-op, and I don't know why it's such a big deal to have EAC there for that in a beta, especially when this beta will have all in-game stats/unlocks wiped clean at the end.I guess I fail to see how anyone would want to cheat in a co-op mode in a non-stat-saved beta.
Quoting: MicromegasYes, a good point.Quoting: liamdaweAnd also, Valve did ask people to send issues to them, not the game developer.Important information, I think. Perhaps worth to be added in the article and maybe even to be repeated in every article about Proton? Just to prevent that developers get really annoyed of Linux players. :dizzy:

Quoting: gojulIf they don't survive alt tab, report to Valve.Quoting: coesetaPlayed some Witcher 3 GotY yesterday, it just works out of the box for me. Runs @60FPS stable on Ultra settings without nvidia hairworks. Proton seems to be really nice :)It already works like a charm w/ Vanilla Wine/devel from GOG so it is no surprise.
However proton games should all run in windowed mode otherwise they do not survive to alt-tab.

Quoting: PatolaAnd Darwin Project [External Link] suddenly started kicking ALL linux/steam play users.Valve did say in their original announcement that anti-cheat probably wont work with Proton.
Please help complaining about that: https://www.easy.ac/en-us/support/darwinproject/contact/tech/ [External Link] (needs a steam ID authentication). The error message is (when you enter the hub): YOU HAVE BEEN KICKED. EAC Kicked: EAC Sandbox not active (dummy client).
Quoting: GuestProton 3.7-5beta caused an issue in Doom (2016) where my max selectable resolution was 640x480 (my native regular is 1920x1080). Proton 3.7.3 stable made it run perfectly.Same as my above comment. Also, anti-cheat is there for a reason. Your post to the developer sounds like you don't really understand why it's used.
Also, and I don't think it's related, but today the Insurgency: Sandstorm beta hit and I was able to play that in 3.7-4beta (before 3.7-5beta came out) and it runs flawlessly; except stupid EAC (EasyAntiCheat) wont allow me to join in any servers. I have to play local vs bots with AI teammates (AI opponents are decently challenging, AI Teammates are dumber than a bag of hammers).
Report of that here:

And added to google docs @ github master compat report.

Quoting: garpuFYI, if you're on a distro that still has Python 2, Steam Proton 3.7-5 seems to require Python 3. If games don't start and there's a message in console about it not being found, install it, and games should start again. Most distros have a version of python 3 that can be installed alongside python 2, if python 2 is the default.Looks like it was from this commit [External Link].
