Quoting: poiuzSorry, but that's not "working same-day". There are just too much issues to workaround. Makes you wonder what went wrong since it was a long time in early access. But maybe it gets better with the actual release in september.

On macOS the situation is not much better: Seems the game page claims compatibility although it's simply not released, yet. Shouldn't there be some kind of validation for Steam releases?

Concerning the stutter: VK_EXT_graphics_pipeline_library doesn't actually fix these issues? I thought the intention was to emulate Windows' shader behaviour.
Well, you can set Proton Experimental and it loads, works and you can play. So, factually, it *is* working on release day. Yes there's issues, but there's lots of issues on Windows too, the Steam forum is full of bug reports.

As for the stutter, that could work but I haven't fully tested that and it's not properly available on Steam Deck until SteamOS 3.5 which no one should be actually using normally anyway.

I have a Steam Deck video rendering now, will add it to the article when it's uploaded and YouTube puts it to HD to give my current suggested settings, gameplay and early thoughts. Proton Experimental still has crashes so remember to save early and often.

What happened to Fedora? :)
I was having lots of random system stalls. Wanted to see if a different distribution had the same issues. Seems it was mostly a KDE problem, as GNOME is not having it. Likely an issue with KDE and NVIDIA (as usual).

Linux overtakes macOS users on Steam thanks to Steam Deck

Quoting: LiamA pretty massive increase and the biggest in a single month for years. So why? Well, considering Valve just recently had a huge sale on the Steam Deck, it's probably not all that surprising. A lot of people over the last month will have been playing with their Steam Deck that ships with SteamOS Linux.
But Liam can that really be the reason, I might be wrong but I thought you wouldn't get surveyed on the Deck for the initial few months or so?
Also I got a Deck as well and I wasnt (at least actively) surveyed 🤔

Well anyway nice news though I expect a drop next month as well, it will be interesting to see if it swings back to "normal" or if it can at least keep parts of that share.
The Steam Deck does get the survey, it didn't initially at the start but that was solved a long time ago. As for you not getting it: it's random, it's a survey, not everyone gets it - that's how surveys work.

Quoting: spacemonkeyMaybe there's an error in the Pop!_OS data. It is 2.97% of Linux users and gained 2.97%, meaning it was 0% previous month.. Does not seem correct to me.
It always does that on the Linux-specific data when they start showing a distro. Pop wasn't listed last month. It's odd but it does it any time a "new" distro appears in the list.

Quoting: HolzkohlenIt would not even fit on my Deck. I still have not upgraded my SSD. I'm looking forward to playing it on Thursday on my regular PC though. Been waiting for it for 4 years now. June 6th 2019 is when they first announced it.
No SD card?

Quoting: denyasisVery nice!! I never finished the original homeworld when it first came out. Might be a good chance to try it again!
Same. I remember fondly playing it but at the time I didn't quite understand it. Having it playable on Linux is great!
