Realms of Arkania: Star Trail, a hardcore RPG with turn-based combat has released with Linux support
15 Aug 2017 at 8:22 pm UTC

I played one of the Realms of Arkania games back in the day (Shadows over Riva) and I liked it very much. I got the Blade of Destiny remake off Steam a few years back and it was a horrible, broken mess, looking terrible and running at sub-20 fps on my rig. I hope this one's better.

The Long Dark officially leaves Early Access tomorrow, check out their launch trailer

GOG still has the 426 build posted, the same that's been there for the past couple of months, IIRC. Will I find the story unlocked when I get back home, I wonder?

Having mouse issues in The Long Dark? Here's a quick fix for now

Good tip, thanks. Just the other day I was wondering why I had no mouse problems on my account when another user on the same computer did.

The Witcher 3 didn't come to Linux likely as a result of the user-backlash from The Witcher 2

Wishing someone to die or the like is never ever an appropriate reaction to anything that might happen in a relation between people pertaining to a digital product. It's completely unacceptable no matter the built-up expectation, the amount of money paid, time spent waiting or whatever.

Companies are made of people and while most decisions tend to be made based on objective grounds, emotions do play a role.

If 100 Windows users send a developer death threats, they will grow tougher skin, wish they could tell them to fuck themselves but try to ignore the hate and keep on working on their game hoping other non-hate-spewing people will buy it.

When 100 Linux users send a developer death threats, they'll do what they wished they could do to the Windows people: say screw you fuckers, I won't release my game for you. Lots of satisfaction ensues, with very little (if any) financial consequence.

Also:

My son of 13 is currently playing TW2 bought on GOG
Are you sure that's a sound decision?

Quoting: libookamiWhiny and demanding wall of text
And here's why we can't have nice things.

The reward I get for my money is this website. I don't need anything more. Except, of course, all the games it makes me buy. I WANT THEM ALL.

I considered pledging $8 to get the key e-mails, but whenever I got any in the past they were all taken by the time I saw the e-mail. Even the one time I saw it 15 minutes after it was sent. So screw that. ;-)

Oh, and with the VAT over here, I pay $6.15. SO SCREW YOU WITH YOUR LOW VAT. ;-)

StarFlint, is a comedy point & click adventure game not to be missed on Kickstarter, has a Linux demo

It's actually more reminiscent of Deponia for me than Broken Sword, although either inspiration is good. First scene is pure Spaceballs, though.

It ran quite well on my work computer, which is quite something (the fact it runs, not the computer).

I'll gladly get it and play it in the next millennium, after I get through all the other point-and-clicks I already have. ;-)

Sorry to hear people have been leaving, but that's always bound to happen. You can't please everyone so just don't bother trying and do your job the way you think it should be done.

You're doing very good things in my book and I enjoy the site immensely, FWIW.

Please don't get discouraged, there are lots of people who love your work.

Adventure game Syberia 3 looks like it will be heading over to Linux
27 Apr 2017 at 8:28 am UTC

That is a rather strange game to encumber with drm like Denuvo, it's not like the masses of pirating teenagers will throw themselves at a point and click.

I enjoyed both previous Syberia games very much, so looking forward to this... once it's out on Linux and fixed up a little.

Story is miles better than the fairly mundane sword and sorcery tale of BG. It's all very depressing, mind. Highly recommended.

Point & click horror game STASIS now has a new Linux Beta
27 Mar 2017 at 7:34 pm UTC

Well, the first beta was barely functional. This one seems a lot better so far. I am very glad, been looking forward to playing this for quite a while now.
