Looks like Republique is no longer getting a Linux port

Quoting: Segata Sanshiro

Quoting: kit89I think the 'Japanese Games Industry has disdain for Linux' is one massive generalisation that doesn't have any facts to back it up.
Japan in general likes to stick to old things/tech/methods and that means software that was first introduced to them has them spoiled. We see this in many bad programming practices and overprotective nonsense when it comes to propietary technologies they cling to. Ownership had made them into obsessed old fogies. That is "most" of Japan, sadly.

You have to thoroughly study their culture and perhaps live there to understand the mentality. I like a lot of things that come out of Japan, but I'm not going to defend this as untrue.
Yup. I stick to my statement. You've summed it up in a nutshell. I mean, if you want to take it further you can also say there's a disdain towards PC gaming as opposed to console gaming, so Linux is already pretty far down the pecking order as it is.

Japan is one of the few countries on earth where the majority of the population still use Internet Explorer. Fun fact.
I saw a recent news article about the massive use of cassette tapes, fax machines and other old tech still prevalent in many Japanese companies big and small. Always seems strange that a country so advanced in technology and with such a glut of products sold around the world seems to struggle with accepting new tech internally and always seems to be reporting shaky economic circumstances. Hope to visit one day and find out for myself.

Do games which were in early access prior to 2015 but given their official release in 2015 count for this? I'm thinking Kerbal Space Programme.

Larian Rep Responds To Criticism Over The Linux Delay Of Divinity: Original Sin
23 Oct 2015 at 6:11 pm UTC Likes: 4

Excuse after excuse. They need to go speak to developers like Squad or Paradox to see how to actually do a cross platform game and manage fanbase expectations. I did not back this game as I forgot to and I am very glad now. Larian won't get a penny of my cash, I'd rather spend it buying a full cost copy of Kerbal for a friend than getting Divinity in the cheapest Steam sale.

Be A Space Marine In Templar Battleforce On Linux

I've played Trese Brothers games on Android for a long time and really enjoy them. They're a great pair of developers as well as they actually listen to and respond to contact. I spoke with them a long time back about their intentions regarding Linux and they did say they wanted to fully support it for some of their current and all of their future games, so I am pleased to see them doing it. I'm sure they'll respond well to any questions, advice or bug reports you give them. I found they would answer bug reports and produce a fix within 24 hours, which is excellent compared to most developers.

GOL Survey Results: March
3 Apr 2015 at 6:26 pm UTC

I've been making sure to check Games Republic and buy from your storefront there if I can, unless the discount on Steam/Humble Bundle makes a vast price difference.

I stupidly went and bought Pillars Of Eternity from Steam without thinking though and only realised later that day I could have had it for the same price from GR. I'll try harder next time!

Larian Studios Detail Why The Linux Port Of Divinity Is Taking So Damn Long

How strange, only last night I went on Steam and their website to see about any updates but was disappointed. I'm not buying it till Linux release though.

Steam Hardware Survey For February 2015
9 Mar 2015 at 12:16 am UTC

I was asked the survey for this one, for the first time in about two years. I made the full switch to Arch back then and it has frustrated me as when I used Steam on my Windows 7 partition I regularly had the survey request and denied it. Made the decision to dump the Windows partition and go full Linux and haven't seen it since then, not even under WINE. Glad I can finally add my stats.

I would be interested for Valve to trigger a full, user-wide survey as a one-off to get figures across their whole market.

I think I'm going to pick this up, looks a fun game for sitting on the couch and playing. I was also sold by the news announcement I just saw for it being released on Linux a while back.

Western Digital Green HDD, How To Stop Them Dying On You

In the 2 hours since I posted, they have only added 7 to the load cycle count on each drive. So somewhere between 3-4 per hour, which is significantly less than the 13-14 per hour I was getting before. I must have buggered the APM settings when I had the server running before. Hopefully all sorted now.
